It could be the graphics card, could be the Pro Res "HQ", what hard drive are you editing off of? A FW800, eSATA? If you're editing off of the system drive that could do it, big no-no. Could be a combo of things. Rare error message, but definitely something hardware based is not up to the task.

So far, I'd have to give the prize to Time Machine. When I disable it, things go fine. When I have it on - spinning ball. I'll let you know if that holds true. For now, I'll edit with it off and turn it on after I'm done. Thank you all for your responses.

Dual 2.0 Ghz G5, 2 GBs RAM, ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB V-RAM. On 6.0.3 just a few months ago, I'd get that warning whenever I pop in almost any FxPlug in an HD sequence (machine was used constantly for projects so no upgrades until recently), so if my sequence had any Fxplugs, i just can't render in float. But after upgrading to 6.0.5, I can render bloom and light rays in a 1080i50 ProRes HQ timeline set to render in high precision YUV,...

OK, I'm assuming stuff here, cause we need more info from you.
First, the fact you have 17GB of free space on a drive means nothing, unless we know the capacity of the drive. All drives on any computer system must have at least 10-15% of their total capacity free, otherwise you have weird problems.
You also need at least 4GB RAM to really run Final Cut Studio smoothly, IMHO, and at least ...

Installing LiveType only
A everybody knows, there is no LiveType included anymore with the 2009 version of Final Cut Studio.
A week ago I got my first Mac. I've heard and have been reading lot of good things about Live Type, and am a little bit sad that Apple removed it from the studio bundle. At this moment I don't have the time to learn ...

What software are you using for compression? What exactly is the source
media? I would probably, at least, 1/2 the video and choose a QT 7 (H.264)
compression either 800kbps or 300kbps or about the same data rate as an FLV
and put it in a SWF player.

HDV 1080i60 to HDV PAL
Hi, I shot this footage on my NTSC Sony FX-7 and my client wants the HDV footage in PAL. Would the best conversion be to use compressor using the HDV 1080i50 settings. I tried it and the outputed file didn't seem to play right. Not sure if I need to tweak the inspector settings. Or is it better to use the HD ...

I guess in brief...
The post house you outsource to will tell you how you need to deliver material. Normally you'll send the full FCP project and all media on a hard drive. Also, you'd never send a "single clip" for color correction, you'd send the finished product, as this process involves corrections, matching, grading, etc.
As for sending work to another graphics person, it depends on ...

FCP spinning ball
I'm using FCP 7.0.1 on a MacPro 2x2.26 GHZ Quad-core Intel Xeon using Snow Leopard. I've recently had problems with playback. I opened an older project and began editing. Soon, the playback would stop and I watched the spinning ball for a while (a minute?) before it would stop. I trashed my preferences, repaired disk ...

Hard to tell without knowing exactly step by step what you did.
Edit the clip into the timeline and apply the color correction filter to the clip. Open the clip from the timeline into the viewer and in the color correction tab adjust the controls.

Sounds like you are using an unsupported CODEC. What is the CODEC? Also,
the more detail you provide (in general) the easier it is to diagnose the
problem. Almost always supply software version #'s, OS version, and
describe what hardware you are working with.

Wide angle lens, frame your shots properly, fit them into the FCP Sequence
as you wish (the top and bottoms will be cut off, thus framing shots
properly to start with).

Do you want a disc that plays back high definition footage from a high definition player to a high definition television, or do you want something that will play back in any old DVD player, regardless of whether it's a standard def or high def monitor?
No regular DVD player will play back high definition footage of any sort. If you want "most people" to be able to read the disk, then you'll ...
