... leaked like a sieve when I got it. I ended up cleaning the aluminum by carefully sanding with wet and dry sandpaper,... glassed the leaking area with a patch with epoxy and fiberglass. This product can be used on wood, fiberglass, and aluminum. I've used it to patch small "soft" spots in the balsa core of previous fiberglass boat I used to own. I drilled some small holes ...seemed to work well. I have not used it on aluminum, however. Here is a quote from their site, fyi: "On aluminum hulls, Gluvit seals seams and rivets and acts as a barrier coat to minimize...

Noah, West System epoxy and some fiberglass cloth matt should do the trick. Roughen up ... clean well. I would leave the fiberglass hood as is and put the patch panel underneath it (no square ... then attack the surface of the hood and repair it with fiberglass resin/bondo. I have use the West System ...after several years. Also used it to bond aluminum and fiberglass with good results. Ben

... it I have been pulling all of this old stuff off. My question is what material should I use to replace it? When I worked on a fiberglass years ago I used 3M 5200 and that seemed to work pretty well. Will that work on aluminum? Will it work in those places where there is an existing patch? Any help would be appreciated! Garet
