I select Jaws (1975). This movie fits in as a disaster movie and a thriller. Doubly, if I am on a tropical island, what movie could possibly be more terrifying? This Steven Spielberg gem is a classic, an absolute classic and should have been picked up long before now... another steal for me! Also, since this film is pre-CGI, the special effects are still special... ...

Jaws (1975): 10/10 one of the most terrifying motion pictures ever made, made me afraid to sit on the fucking toilet. Jaw 2 (1978): 7/10, not bad..., and horrible plot. The shark snacks on some tourists at Sea World, even the dolphins couldn't save this train wreck of a movie. Jaws: The Revenge (1987): 0/10, words can't do this movie justice alone about how terrible it is. This was one ...

The Birds. A hundred times over again, The Birds. I liked the famous opening murder of Jaws. After that, it's a drama with high production values. A snooze and a half!

... botch--but overall SS's direction looks no better than 'Something Evil'. Spielberg was still very timid in 'Jaws'--he still is, actually. So, give me the Spielberg of 'Duel' every time. In that film he ... us the disturbing side of life. He almost had an 'indie' approach. Money killed that for sure. 'Jaws' was Spielberg starting down the road to being a sellout. If I could see it on the big ...

UPDATED Mon May 12 2008 21:08:37 Not true, We don't even see the shark that much in 'Jaws', and when we do, it,s usually a quick glimpse, 'Jaws' builds suspense, 'Jurassic Park' doesn't, because it's more concerned with showing off it's effects. 'Jaws' could have still been great even if they never showed us the shark, that's the difference....

... of its . So that sentence reads: "It has it is moments", which makes no sense. Although I do agree that Jaws starts slowly, after about the first half hour it gets good. When the three men get onto the boat ..., and a great musical score, and a (literally) explosive ending. The only thing I don't like about Jaws was that it was followed by three of the dumbest sequels in the history of film.
