What about a fixed focus lens. The f/1.4 50mm is cheaper than almost any zoom, lots faster than any zoom, and sharper than most anything, at least at f/2. It's inevitable and... throws and throw ratios - can never be fixed by twiddling the angles betwwen prisms,... throw, the less this difference is and hence the best focus you get. Long throws and large throw ratios ... only works for fixed throws. Change the throw, and you have to change the focus correction required....
