The LSD "M-clunk" comes definitely from the diff in the back. What you describe could be transmission mount or motor mount bushings. Motor mount: [IMAGE] Transmission mount

it. Once any play and instability comes into drive train, center bearing, U-joints and splines, you could say it begins to self-destruct and clanks and clunks increase until something breaks. [IMAGE]
