By the way. There are some people who did not major in physics, but then did a graduate degree in physics. These tend to be math or chemstry majors, whose undergraduate study covered much of what undergrad physics majors learn. One notable exception is Ed Witten. He majored in history and minored in linguistics. Then he became a political journalist and activist and quit. Then did the first semester of economics Ph.D. program at Wisconsin,...

Thank you. I doubted when I received the second similar email from another school. They are doing something weird. This kind of marketing email can either help them or kill their prestige.

Hello friends, So I finished my GRE last week (Oct 28). I scored 770Q and 670V. Hope to receive my official score soon. Some background about me - I graduated from US institution with 3.94/4.0 GPA... I'm an international student and a new member to this forum, but I frequently visited the GRE forum for tips/information/advice about the actual test/prep/etc. Although I'm a little disappointed with my score, it could have been worse,...

You should be fine with your profile to get in to the Master's program, especially if you do get a 700 GMAT. The PhD would definitely be a stretch, but your profile is fairly decent and Virginia Tech isn't a super presitgious school. You may want to try applying to both programs. If you don't make the PhD program now you will have a much better shot when you have the Masters if you do well.

Hey, thanks a lot, Ishani! I'm still working on my statement of purpose so won't be able to submit soon.. Anyway, I read from some posts from some guys mentioning that they only completed their applications several hours before deadline or so..I wonder how it'd ever possible. Cause their materials should have arrived at the university before that deadline, while they still have not finalised their applications.. Or is it...

This section of the forum rarely gets responses to questions, so I thought I'd type one in. I would say probably not, to all of your questions, but those are just guesses.
One of my relatives used to teach graduate courses in physics, and what I was told is that a good grasp, with a lot of practice, of the undergraduate background in physics is essential for the masters level physics ...

I have seen some universities mention in their online applications they do not want the supp materials coming in before the online apps.
If the online app doesn't say any such thing, it shouldn't really be a problem, although the best way to find out is to email them
I email the universities a lot, and most of them reply promptly.

you might want to get the transcripts in hand and then go meet your registrar personally and request them for the signature, I would do that, I don't know if it's the best way to do it though.
