10 months is quite a long time. If I were you I would definitely forget all those words by the time I take the test after 10 months Actually, even if one has lots of time I would advise to take the test as soon as one feels confident. That is if you keep hitting your target scores in your practice sessions you can go and have a shot at the real test straight away! Just my 2 cents!

I agree with M10. If you can keep refreshing the words you have learned over the next 10 months, your targets should not be a problem. The problem with me was that my target score was 1600, and I never hit that in a reliable test. Anything 1400+ is great for engineering programs, so your target score is sound. One question though. Which test did you take to get 780+460? Different test-makers have different biases in scoring, so we could...

actually i am planning to take the gre exam again in early jan for targeting some univ for fall so whats thy take on this as i dnt have large sum of moolah to pay out and i'm really in a state of quandary.

I scored a total of 950 (650 in quant and 300 in verbal) in gre exam,apart from this i have 2.5 yrs exp,SCJP and SCWCD sun microsytem java certified and having effective letter of reference 's with me,will i get admission in any good computer science engineering college in behalf of all these qualifications,needs your help in sorting the problem i am facing. hi everyone ....... i have recently appeared in gre and scored 1250 ( quant-740 & verbal-510). I m satisfied with the score because i had one month of preparation though i think my quant score is low . Now i m looking forward for applying in canadian graduate school for ms in economics. Can anyone suggust me in which canadian schools i may get both admission and funding......... cheers.....

Not sure about finance programs, but my cousin got a score of V: 500 and Q: 800 and got accepted to Berkeley's engineering program.

Yup, 620Q is really too low for a CS major. Try checking with the univs as to what their cutoffs for GRE scores are, but in general, I think it would be better if you retook the test.

I was offline throughout the weekend and logged on this morning primarily to hear the good news from Luma. I'm perplexed-to say the Least. I hope that that this issue is resolved in your favour. I understand why you wouldn't want to take GRE again, but I join the chorus of encouragements for you to retake if you dont find enough good schools that don't require GRE. Try to stay positive. just got my scores in the mail... very surprised at the AWA score, i thought i bombed it. actually I was surprised I did so well in general lol.
as for prep, I used:
