2. First we need to calculate the distance travelled by cyclist before he stops to wait. He travelled for 5 min or 1/12 hr so that's time. And relative speed will be 20-4 = 16( as cyclist and hiker are going in same direction ). so distance travelled by hiker = 16 * 1/12 = 4/3 miles Now hiker has to travel this distance of 4/3 mile with his speed = 4 mph..Here no relative speed because cyclist is waiting. Thus time taken by hiker = (4/3)...

The trick in the first question is to simply choose a number whose factorial will have all the prime factors of 990 (remember, we need the smallest number, so 990 would do and we need not go for its multiples) And, using the above logic, 11! has all the prime factors of 990.

In this sequence, we have the terms: n1 = 1 n2 = -3 n3 = 2 n4 = 5 n5 = -4 n6 = -6 The only way we get a negative product is if we multiply a positive by a negative. There are 5 possible products of consecutive terms: n1 * n2 = -3 n2 * n3 = -6 n3 * n4 = +10 n4 * n5 = -20 n5 * n6 = +24 Exactly three of the products are negative.
