We shouldn't be having this discussion. That truck is a good candidate for restoration!

Water/Meth injection isn't allowed according to the rules i'm working within for the class I'm running in. So it isn't an option. I can do the whole radiator/fan combo, but that would give me basically what I'd get off of a regular intercooler. I'm wanting to do something out of the box to get an even better air charge. Morph

My first diesel was an '84 Olds 88. I knew they had problems, but I figured if I bought it for one third of the original price (it was only a year and half old) I could live with it. Every week would bring another problem, and I had car poolers to get to work. The dealer service dept. was worse than the vehicle. I then decided that the big three had treated me like a sucker for long enough. I went out and bought a new Toyota Land...

Four good posts in a row which I agree with. Furd my have culled all the old timers and have only a bunch of young hotshots with large egos and over inflated self-confidence. We'll know if Furd can produce a reliable diesel engine before long. If I was the engineer in charge of the new engine project at Furd going up against the mighty and already proven Cummins ISB6.7 and the EPA I wouldn't buy a new home with a mortgage or make...

new diesel cars
Published (2009-11-11 00:59:00)
According to the news on tv, the car makers are introducing several diesel cars at the car show this year. Some of them even pass the kalifornia test. It will be interesting to see how this plays out as far as diesel prices. I wonder if the added demand will cause diesel to be made more available for domestic use (and bring diesel prices down), or increase the pressure on the supply and drive prices up. (with the continuation of domestic...

Just an idea. When running a demolation derby we ran a plastic fuel tank for gasoline. We filled the gas tank with water. Using a 12 volt pump we supplied cooling water to the block in case the radiator got hit. Could you use something like this to spray water on the I-cooler? No one ever knew how our car kept running. We had an analog temp guage and a switch for the water pump. Good luck.

We have a couple of the 6.4 powerstrokes in some trucks at work. When ya open the hood it looks downright scary. Not looking forward to the day when I'm gonna have to tear into one. This engine really doesn't look much more user friendly. Guess only time will tell. Mike

Aiming is only some of the problem with a non DOT headlight..some cheaper HID kits scatter so much light that even though they may be aimed correctly, too much bright light still scatters into oncoming drivers eyes. That being said, high quality HID lights, or even other high quality BUMPER MOUNTED headlights (CIBIE), while NOT legal ( which is it's own risk) can both function extremely well, as...
