Never seen logon screen like this
Published (2009-11-26 17:03:00)
After pressing ctr/ alt/ del (you may need to do this twice to get to the logon screen) Type in : Administrator Does that get you in? If not try Safe Mode (F8, before Windows starts up) If so, create a new account, then log off, and log into that one Or re-install Windows clean (preferred)

Dell D610 Power Issue
Published (2009-11-26 22:03:00)
Dell does NOT help with password issues on a number of their Latitude computers. The Latitude D610 and D620 are two for which there is not a fix by anyone, except to replace the motherboard. Dell Tech Support DOES NOT help with password issues, but they will sometimes forward you to a department which can help. Unfortunately, the D610 is not one of those. The will sell you a new motherboard, if they have any in stock. The cost the last time...

HP Pavilion DV3500
Published (2009-11-24 13:39:00)
Hi everyone! I recently purchased a HP Pavilion DV3505EA from ebay UK. The seller stated the Laptop was 3 to 4 months old and as HP offer 1 year warranty I assumed 8 or 9 months warranty should remain. Shouldn't HP have this on there system? As soon as I received the laptop I contacted HP about the warranty and they said it was ending on the next day (day after I received the laptop) which was the Thursday 19th November. I asked the...

Sorry, I do not have one in front of me... But you use the Windows install disk, or the recovery disk that came with your computer. Save all valuable files as a precaution. Then cold boot to the Windows disk. Go through the various levels as it boots. You should get two different choices for selecting R for Recovery Console and R for Repair. The Recovery Console is usually first. Ignore that choice, and move on to the next screens where you...

Compaq Armada 7400 with Win2K OS Yes, the same laptop with the previous DIAGS partition problem - that was solved! Thanks. Now ... It wasn't in use for a few weeks. Then started it up - no front LED indicator lights - sudden shutdowns - battery not charging - replaced battery - charging fine but still no front LED lights and occasional sudden shutdowns. Any ideas? Mary

We have found over the years that the Lenovo is the most reliable, though more costly, than any other. I have owned over 30 of them, and still use them as loaners when working on someone's computer. ASUS is developing an excellent reputation as a laptop builder. Some Toshiba's and Some HP or Compaq are good. I like Dells in the upper half of the Dell price range. I would stay away from Sony...

I don't believe the battery has contributed to the Hard Drive fail Its just that both the battery and Hard Drive were from the same laptop and had the same usage. They just decided to go at a similar time I feel this is normal. I also feel that 2hrs is normal for older laptops, many laptops work off 2hrs and are reported as being working perfectly normally The drain down to minutes (quickly...

Hi, I want to know what brand of laptops people feel/find are the best priced, reliable and maybe good customer after support? Also over the threads I have read many post's people have said. "Avoid Sony, Compaq, Alienware if you want reliability." "and buy only HP,lenovo,Toshiba,Asus,MSI. Avoid acer and vaios at all costs". I have pretty much always liked Vaio's, maybe I am ...

Gateway is the worst. I once had a techie try to copy a 4 meg file to a floppy. When that didn't work, he zipped it to a 3 meg file and tried to copy that to a floppy disk. lol Bunch of idiots. I currently have 4 problems with my Gateway and they want a min of $250 just to send it in.
