This card is a popular choice for those who play the type of games you do, and is economical as well. it only requires a 400W PSU and draws all the power needed from the maximum 75 watts provided by the PCIE slot. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/178946

At about $205 you could get this combination: BFG Tech GS-550 550W + XFX Radeon HD 4870 1GB The HD 4870 will provide much, much better performance over the GTS 250. The PSU will do decently for a single card.

You can select from those available on the Compaq Presario site. Other than those, you can guess at the lower level ATI and GeForce PCI express X16 cards. We have had such bad luck changing video graphics cards on HP/Cpq machines that we always upgrade the power supply first... which means another $50.

Launch Windows Movie Maker, cut out what you don't want, and save it. If you don't have Windows Movie Maker, go to www.microsoft.com , go to the download center, and get movie maker for whatever version of windows you have. If you have a mac, Idk. Get the sony vegas trial I guess.

I have 3 PCI Slots (One of which doesn't work for unknown reasons, 2 are being used - one by my wireless network and the other by my current graphics device, the fx 5200). I also have a AGP 4x/8x Slot... An older version. Newer AGP type devices I don't think will fit due to reversed plugs on the cards than I have in my motherboard. So please, no AGP recommendations. But, I would like to hear...

That is an HD 4850. It is a decent mid-ranged card, comparable to the nVidia GTS 250, and should be able to run almost any current game at high settings, when run at lower resolutions. Is that what you are looking for? I was not really sure by your question.

Your first limitation is the power supply, which on most Dell Dimension 2400's is about 240 watts.... certainly no more than 300 watts... then your video graphics card must be a PCI card... and there are not many cards that will work very well in that system. So you need a PCI video graphics card, and a power supply that can handle it.. I would get the 256 GB video graphics card... The 2400 ...

I am in the market for a new graphics card, and I wanted suggestions for a future-proof graphics card. Here are the specs of my system: BIOSTAR G41-M7 (PCI-E 1.0a) Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 (<- GREAT investment, btw ) 2GB Hynix DDR2-667 Apower 680 Watt PSU (PCI-E 8 pin connector) (I didn't list the non-essentials ) I currently use a 7800GTX
