I have auditioned two Verity Audio speakers - the Finn and the Parsifal Ovation. The Parsifal blew me away - it is a wonderful speaker! At half of the price of the Parsifal, the Rienzi is closer to my budget, but I cannot audition it. Has anyone directly compared the Rienzi to the Parsifal? How much of the Parsifal magic does it capture? Regards, Mark

Hey Mark, Have you considered buying used? You might want to take advantage of the credit crucnch and drive a bit of a bargain. There are two pairs of clean looking Parsifal Encores for sale on Audiogon asking $5990 and $6350 respectively. Parsifal Encores sound reasonably similar to the Ovations which were a pretty incremental upgrade. I've owned a pair for 10 years and still love them. I am sure these would be a fairly considerable...

Quote: I like your suggestion about the scope program. I mentioned in my original post that I was looking for something like that. Any suggestions? Sorry, I've never tried any, but Googling "oscilloscope software" produced some promising results, some even free.

You will clearly see a dome on a tweeter move with a 1.5V battery, so go for it. I've done this on about 100 tweeters, actually far more, so it is not problem -whatsoever. That's a 1.5V AA cell or similar. There is no guarantee what the polarity of the given tweeter is in the given total speaker system, though. It varies. I believe Martin Colloms reviewed that speaker for Stereophile, in the way back days. Nope, it was JA. It was...

This can be a little daunting. If I were you I would use a sound level meter and a Stereophile test cd. Probably the first one "Stereophile Test CD". First though, I would try contacting B&W. They may have a way of IDing the polarity that is not readily apparent.

I'd say check any fuses, though I wouldn't think you'd have a light on the sub, but it's worth a try. The other culprit could be simply be a loose wire from the subs internal amp to the driver, or something like that. That's easy to check if you just remove the driver cone (carefully of course, and visually inspect internal wiring. Make sure the power is off of course.

You and I must be looking at two different pages from the archives; Quote: However, the Legacy's impedance plot (fig.1) indicates that the speaker is quite a demanding load, at least at high frequencies. While the woofer section (shown to the left of this graph) drops below 4 ohms only between 24Hz and 29Hz, the midrange-tweeter section drops to 4 ohms at 3kHz and reaches a ...

I wish you'd do us all a very big favor. Please spread the word to your buds in the "bizz" that automobiles are not the best place to listen to music.
