I have certainly been in the exact same place as the OP. I can tell you that my head was filled with thoughts of what I did and did not need, "reasons" why I couldn't even consider treatment, etc. I had to get real down and dirty, to the point where I had exhausted every conceivable option, before I became willing to do anything to get relief from my life. It sounds awful, but I consider myself to have been extremely...

Thanks ((Dee)) - I really, really miss my "thank you" button, but hear it's coming back soon. Never got hold of my dr's nurse, haven't checked with the pharmacy yet...just hobbling around. I'm vaguely remembering all the muscles that hold a hip in place, and darned if I haven't pulled all of them...even the "butt" muscles Guess HP thought I needed a reminder to be grateful when I...

..well ya know ............. lets face it, alcohol is a drug. It's just a liquid drug......that's all. You are a recovering alcoholic and you think you can do drugs, safely? The chances of that are so remote, it aint funny. 2 November's ago, I thought I could drink responsibly because I hate booze. I tried it and I abused it almost instantly. I am no better at controling that liquid drug, than I am at controling a solid drug and...

Yes , It's possible to get clean and live free again. Have you ever considered an In-patient Detox? Sometimes, when one is out of control, it can be the best bet. The path of saying, "Yeah, I have a bad opiate problem and I need to surrender and get detoxed" At least this way, the pills are out of your hands and it'll be up to trained professionals to take you off of your drugs. If you are in that much pain,...

Yeah I suppose I'm kind of in the opposite situation as you. I'm an addict but I know I need to abstain from alcohol too because I know if I drink I will probably use and even if I don't do that I will end up abusing alcohol looking to get the same feeling I used to get from drugs.

Have you tried any form of treatment besides subutex?
No matter how much you have done or are doing, there are those who have done far more and recovered. You have obviously taken a stab at stopping since you have a script. Medication alone won't cut it...the real work of recovery is in working the steps.
You, my friend, are in what an old friend called "the squirrel cage", a place most ...

I can only speak for myself....
after 20 years of addiction and abuse, if I'm not taking my meds as directed - either in volume or delivery - and I'm taking them because I enjoy the high as much as, or more, as they bring pain relief...I'd consider myself in trouble.
How do you feel when you finish your meds early?

Hi whydidIdothis
Welcome to SR.
I've never done Oxys, but as an addict whose been where you are, I think you need to reach out.
I know you've been trying to keep this secret, but even if you're right and you have done so up to now, it really is only a matter of time before you get caught out, if you keep going.
I think speaking with a Dr is always a good move.

Okay, so I have only just recently heard the term "Taper". Whenever I was on my way down from any meds, it was detox. I suppose for those who do it at home taper could be considered the correct terminology. But let me tell you why I responded to your post. I recently (less than 4 weeks) got out of detox in a hospital setting. It was brutal and the first week out I was a mess. I am attending ...

This debate has been endlessly rehashed. Usually, those who would claim that addiction is not a disease are responding to myths as opposed to facts. The medical community accepted that alcoholism and addiction are diseases many years ago. There are published articles all over that clarify the point.

Yay! First one in the new Henhouse! How exciting! Shall I decorate? Okay, lots of comfy pillows everywhere. A plush, cushy couch. Plenty of water on ice and coffee on tap. A designated smoking area? Nah. We shouldn't be doing that anyway. I know! Kitty beds and climbing posts! Nice soothing shades of blue on the walls. How about a disco ball? Too much? Okay, scratch that. Soft ...

Is it true that heavy use of marijuana is often associated with lack of ambition? My daughter, age 27, has been an admitted heavy user of marijuana (and alcohol). She seems to be very, very, what I'd call "lazy". She has no ambition, no plans for her future that she follows through on, and only a part-time, low paid job, despite a college degree. She supports herself by affiliating with "friends"...
