For a carry gun, .40 is the best choice it seems correct? You get more stopping power than a 9mm, but increased magazine capacity. Anyone want to add to that?

From what I know, the P228 was never actually "made" in the U.S. ... some were "assembled" in the U.S. from German parts, but even those have a verifiable "German heritage" (the slides often have "Made in Germany"...

Another Springfield Armory XDm fan here. I have a .40 and love the way it shoots. I love the way the .40 cal. It has been a very new experience for me. When I went on a very long hiatus from shooting, there were no pistols in .40. I have a P229 (don't know if that is considered full size)a SigPro on the way in .40 and the XDm. Love the 229 and the XDM. The XDm is bigger and everything that has been posted so far about it is true. I have...

TRP or ?
Published (2009-11-20 22:58:00)
So Ive been learning more about 1911s lately and I came across the black finished Springfield TRP. I have heard a lot of good stuff about SA, but also that they use cast parts and that is bad supposedly. I honesly dont know much about them, obviously. I was just wondering what you all think about the TRP and how it compares to other 1911s in that price range like maybe the Valor, etc. Would you say they are overpriced, underpriced, or right...

I haven't gotten mine range ready yet because I keep admiring it in the plastic and grease it shipped in, so I just grab a 9 and go shooting. I'm afraid my proofed 40 may become a safe queen. Oh well, in the last year I seem to be going 9 more and more anyway. I dont want my 40S&W 2022 to become a safe queen but thus far I have not taken it to the...

I believe there's a tutorial kicking around here somewhere on posting pics, but the short version is: You have to get them up somewhere on the web (like Photobucket, or even your own web site if you have one) and then you click the little picture square on the posting widow (2nd from the right) and paste the picture's URL into the little drop down that appears. So easy a caveman could do it.

"Use the search, Luke." Great price on a fine gun. It will be around a long time, and parts as well. The P250 and SP2022 are apples and oranges.

I had one. Really, nothing bad. It is on the heavy side and it's not small but it shoots. It's reliable and as durable as you could ever expect for a military 9mm. The only reason I sold it is that dumb reason of getting bored with a hand gun. It's very accurate too. The best thing is the price. I picked it up used for $350.00!

I believe the .40/357 does have a beefier slide... The slide serrations are different too.

posted by 1st Sig P226, quote: Is the P250 simply a lower cost product, or could it not generate enough interest in it? Even the S&W M&P sells for more. The P250 is selling on par with the XD9M pistols. Probably a little of both, the P250 is going to cost less to produce than an alloy or steel framed Sig pistol. I dont know exactly why the retail price of the P250 has dropped like a rock ...

Your list is complete to the best of my knowledge, but then again my knowledge may be incomplete. I love my P226ST as well. From what I have seen, the P229 in all stainless and no tail seems to be the one hardest to come by, and if I was in a position to add another SS SIG, that's the one I would want the most.

I'm down to one .45 as a result of ammo costs. I've also shed some .40's. Of the 16 pistols I own, 10 are 9mm. I have zero issue with carrying a 9mm.

What features do you want and how loud do you want the sucking sound to be? Check out Gun Oil's post selling his P210-6 heavy frame with side release, Nill grips and a lot of mags. Hard to get a better setup than that. Good luck ETA correct seller

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Right now I'm pretty happy if I can keep 'em all in a pie pan sized group at 25 yds with my newest acquisition. Can't imagine shooting two inch groups at 50 yds without THOUSANDS of rounds on the same gun and lots steadier hands than I have now...

I like your write-up. And to mention that I just took possession of a 3" Ruger SP101 that I'm enjoying. I took her out Veterans Day for a quick shoot and was not disappointed. So happy with it that I just ordered a Don Hume 721 to wear it. I doubt it will replace my semi's for concealment, but for outdoor work, I believe it'll be on my side.

Bigger bullets make bigger holes. Heavier bullets penetrate flesh better. Big and heavy is good. Having said this, all three rounds are good. Its just that the smaller you go in caliber, the more you must depend bullet design to make up for the difference in other aspects of performance.

The key to carrying any gun comfortably is a proper holster and a proper belt. There is a huge difference between a well designed holster and an Uncle Mike's type of generic holster. However, without the...

The importer mark is per U.S. law since this particular model is not distributed/manufactured/sold in the U.S. by SIG-Exeter (didn't you look at the P226 AL SO pics from my thread on the piece? If not, recall that I gave you the link previously), all pieces sold domestically must have the name of the U.S. distributor/manufacturer/importer (in this case, "PW Arms Redmond WA") marked on the piece ...

If I could only have 1 of either, it would be an old school all-German P228 undoubtedly.

Why did they even bother to show a comparison with any other non polymer receiver guns beside the Springfield. Everybody knows polymer guns are easy to limp wrist. A better test would have been only polymer guns against the Glock IMO.
