The Chief isn't in a position to change policy. You'd be better off addressing the Board of Trustees or Regents or whatever they are called in that system.

People get robbed, or even killed by bad guys: a local unfortunate event. A student shoots another student ( or students) on campus, for any reason: national headline. That thought would freak out any police chief, no matter how tough he is. Like it or not, mass media really do control our lives...

What are gun control advocates going to do, disarm the Army? I would think this would be an example where even if Civilians had zero access to weapons, this shooting could still have occurred, given it was done by an Army officer on an Army Base!
