I like them. I paid more for this one a few months ago. I'd actually rather have a fixed stock. If yours is a Ranch Rifle, be prepared to replace the rear sight with one that works.

Forgive me if I am wrong, I am far from an NFA expert. But those FCG parts are pretty much irrelevant without an auto sear and a drilled receiver. There's nothing there that would make your AR-15 a machine gun if you put those parts in it. Your selector might flip to the third position but it wouldn't do anything. Olympic used to sell AR-15s with M-16 hammers installed. Unless you get more thrust per squeeze, I think it is legal.

It was a military project. They made the AR-10 to compete with the M14. The Army, based on testing, decided to try out a 22 caliber cartridge, and the General in charge of the program was impressed with the AR-10 and had Armalite design the AR-15. But the testers were dead set against the AR-15 and the Army continued their adoption of the M-14.

I voted lightweight. My only AR is a lightweight IDF-ish clone. In a carbine, weight, especially up front, is very important. Plus, I don't quite get a gov't profile with the notch, for civilians this is purely cosmetic. The main drawback of a lightweight barrel is that it doesn't dissipate head as well. If you're going for a tack-driver, then get a straight medium weight barrel, that will ...

Samson makes the only folding front sight that'll fit the gasblock dovetail on the 556. Then you can use any standard AR folding rear sight that best strikes your fancy. http://www.samson-mfg.com/mm5/...IG&Category_Code= FFS

I don't have first hand on it but from my own research I would snatch one up if I could justify it since I have a SOCOM 16 and a CETME. I haven't heard significant complaints about the Armalite. The experts will be along shortly.

Galil plastic mags. CDNN had them for 9.99 for a 30 rd mag. You just have to remove a small amount of the plastic on the sides of the mag on the first 1 cm of the mag. I think I have 10 or so if you want them. Never finished my Siaga build. I modified one of the mags and you can just use that one to copy.

I'm for all of these improvements except this one: quote: • Adding a round counter to track the total number of bullets fired over the weapon’s lifetime. I would think an armorer worth a damn would be able to tell what parts are worn and what parts need replacing, no need for the added expense of some kind of round counting device.

I've got three ARs built on their lowers. Both complete Double Star rifles (not mine, but owned by acquaintances) I've dealt with seem to indicate poor QC on their part. One's a jammomatic: at a recent class it jammed several times shooting three round groups for sighting in. On the other the mag catch snapped so you couldn't seat a magazine.

I didn't vote, not enough experience. The LMT MRP is definitely the better upper . Monolithic and quick change capable, for only a ~ $200 premium over a standard (high quality) railed upper. The LWRC piston system has a much more proven track record...but you can't swap a different length, caliber or operating system barrel and BCG into it. Probably the better piston though. I got the LMT ...

Id get something with a chrome lined barrel. Ive purchased from Del-Ton in the past with no problems. Good company but I have not ordered an AR from them. Im pretty sure I purchased my parts kit from them and have about 1k rounds in my AR with it, no issues.

1) CMMG, Bravo Company USA, Adco are three I've used in the past. 2) Not really. The main one involves older Colt civilian products which used different pin sizes. 3) How much are you wanting to assemble? Assemble a stripped lower and attach a complete upper? Assemble the upper as well from a stripped upper?
