p229 sas trigger
Published (2009-11-26 11:47:00)
Ok, I have my 239DAK and there's a click when you pull the trigger, maybe 20% into the trigger pull. An intermediate reset point click after firing and releasing the trigger. I do not have a click after racking the slide and then pulling the trigger, nor do I have a click when releasing the trigger slowly unless I rack the slide while holding the trigger back. Sounds like you may need to have your gun further looked into.

9mm slide on a P229 40cal?

P229 DAK Issue, .40 S&W
Published (2009-11-25 14:47:00)
As to the light primer strikes, I have had one experience of that with my .40 DAK P229, but it was attributable to the ammunition. I had a case of Fiocchi .40 S&W, I believe it was 170gr, that consistently gave me misfires. They always went off on the second strike, but it got to where it was happening several times in a magazine. I contacted Fiocchi about it, but I never heard anything back from them. I had brought the case to a GGI class...

P229 DAK Issue, .40 S&W
Published (2009-11-26 06:04:00)
Chris - The guns were lubricated with TW-25B. Our guns are well maintained and in pristine condition. When we trade in weapons they are in high demand because of our close care. After all, my officers lives depend on them. The ammo not being mentioned was to save the length of the post. CCI/Speer 180 grain Lawman (primary ammo used), Winchester WC401, and Remington. We exchanged the recoil spring on the weapons that had the failure to feed...

I described my problem to SIG and they believe there was a problem with the installation and said to send it back. I'll let you know the outcome.

Thanks for the info. I've considered chnaging-out the rod. I've noticed that during re-assembly and installing the rod and spring back into the slide, the spring easily kinks.

German P226 Shoots High - Sig SSP
Published (2009-11-22 21:11:00)
Hello, Thank you for the replies and information. So, just to make sure I got this right, lower number front sight, means lower impact, i.e., a taller sight. All my others Sigs shoot to point of aim. This Sig P226 also shot high for my wife. I will try another magazine to see if there are any more slide failures to lck back. Thanks ! NA15SA

Welcome to the Forum. Good people and good information here. The P-229 stainless is a fine pistol. Make sure you handle one before buying. The added weight is not insignificant. I now have the SRT on all my DA/SA Sigs. It is a fine trigger. Not many years ago my recommendation would have been to take delivery of the pistol and shoot it a lot. Sig P-series triggers used to be about as good...

Sig is producing guns with both types of roll pins. Pin replacement is and should be part of a preventive spring and pin replacement program of any well cared for sig.

If you're having all those problems and are also in the process of purchasing a bunch of new guns from SIG, I'd discuss the issues with the LE representative for your area. It's very rare for extractors of the external kind found in 40 S&W P229s to break. How many have broken? Do the officers know not to drop a round in the chamber and close the slide? Some DAK pistols have had failure to fire ...

Thank you for the photo which explains the problem very well. That is a seriously defective recoil spring. Since that part of the spring doesn't leave the guide rod, it's difficult to imagine what happened. Send it to Sig and see what they say. At the least, you will get a new recoil spring in return. Your slide coming back past the slide catch release is normal. What stops slide travel is ...

They never will make one specifically designed for +p+ ammo and the reason is simple: There is no standard for +p+ therefore some may be just a bit hot, and others may be loaded way over the top. No firearm manufacturer is ever going to warranty a pistol that is used for that kind of ammunition. The advantages of using +p+ ammunition are miniscule at best, since there's no way of knowing hows...
