Carry P6 9mm or 2022 .40 ?
Published (2009-11-23 17:18:00)
So I am trying to decide which of my two Sigs should be my first carry gun. I have been leaning toward the p6 but some have given me reason to think I should be considering the 2022 instead. I will be looking for a holster for one of these so I need to make my decision soon. Question: Should I carry the p6 or the 2022? Choices: 2022 it is new in a bigger caliber and carries more rounds The p6 it already has holster wear and is more concealable...

I got my medium today and immediatley tried my P228 in it. Great fit, not even tight. I got this one for the lovely and talented Mrs. ironguy but if they ahve any left I'm going to have to get one for myself too. I won't be needing the Large anymore.

Just found a whole bunch of stuff for you. Great beginner level instruction as well as advanced demo's doing soft and hard style Aikido. It should wet her appetite. Pop me an email with your address and I'll mail you a DVD. Quality is so-so since they were converted from tape.

I used to wear out the linings on jackets back with the old school hammer spur on my 1911. Nowadays I'm all Glock, Kahr, or hammerless j-frame, so there's nothing to get scratchy... Regards, Kevin

I can recommend the P6 wholeheartedly since it's my EDC.

I'm a BIG fan of the PM9, but I think it's really marginal (due to capacity) as a primary and only carry gun. The short grip also makes it a TAD hard to shoot well at speed, especially with HOT 9mm ammunition. I'd recommend you look at the P9 or TP9 for a little more barrel and grip. I can't and don't recommend any pocket-size .380 as an only gun, just below my threshold for what I consider ...

The best answer to the question is that YMMV. But that said, I own a few Sigs, including a P220, P239 and P228. With these choices, I carry the P239. Why, because it's lighter and just easier for me to conceal/carry. .

I have never had my MTAC or CTAC come out while drawing. I use a thicker than dress belt gun belt which helps a lot. The blade tech UCH has a different design that lets the belt slide over it while. still locking very well in place.

If you would have asked me 4 or 5 months ago I would have said TT Gunleather. However, based on his wait times I have to say I would take him out of the up and coming category and would put him up there with the best of them. I should be getting another order from him in the next week or so that I placed back in March and it is in no way a small order.

What finally prompted me to take the CCW class was a fly fishing trip I was planning in Michigan's upper peninsula. There is a real problem with wild dog packs where I was heading and it was strongly suggested that I take some protection. The black bears had bothered a few of my fishing buddies in years past as well.....not to mention some of the locals can be a little different. Anyway, that's ...

Thanks for the heads-up. I haven't considered using a fanny pack for carry before, but this deal seems to be the best way to give it a try.

Well, I can say you're going about it properly by not trying to teach your wife. There are always exceptions to every rule, but in my experience, when spouses try to teach each other something as serious as self-defense, it doesn't come across the same as when a third party teaches it. I'm not sure about DVDs, but is there anyone around your area that teaches a specific ladies' self-defense ...

As far as styles, My personal opinion is that an IWB gives you the most versatility as you can wear it tucked on several models if you need too or untucked. Some have issues with comfort on the IWB (Inside the Waist Band) but with the right one I find it not much different at all than an OWB holster. You can email me if you'd like some info on my holsters. My email is in my profile.
