Shotgun patterning question
Published (2009-11-13 22:16:00)
I find diff. loads group differently & POI can shift from load to load. Example, Win #1 buck only lands half the pellets on a 11x17 sheet of paper @ 10yds. The Hornady TAP reduced #00 puts all pellets on the paper, but high right. The Federal #4 buck all pellets on the paper & perfectly centered. All from my cyl. bore M879, sO it does matter.

Question on Wallyworld 45acp vs...
Published (2009-11-11 13:01:00)
Was it the Champion made by Federal? It seems my local Walmart can't get the Blazer Brass in .45 that I like and can only get the Champion. So far I have no complaints about it. As far as I know Wallyworld doesn't make ammunition.

Was at one of my local Wal-Marts on Wed. Plenty of 40 there. Only 4 boxes of Federal 9mm and no 45 ACP. Guess it pays to be a 40 guy.

Not only that. Caliber wars about the same caliber are the worst. But those who know the 9x18 Ultra/ 9x18 Police/ 9mm Ultra/ 9mm Police/ 9mm Super cartridge do appreciate the difference and enjoy the versatility. And some might not have known that it could all be achieved without going beyond SAAMI or CIP limits. Btw, ballistics shown could be improved/surpassed easily. Not that bad for such a tiny thing. By how much and what is the safe...

I'm with StanSoph on this one. I don't really understand what you are asking. It's like asking "what man would you like to sleep with?" Uhh, neither, thank you. For the least amount of damage, I'd guess the FMJ.

They all suck at shooting people. And any choice is a trade off. That being said, there has been some issues with the Glock in .40, but from my research it is a thing of the past. I would not be afraid to buy anything new in a Glock. That being said, the choice is yours. Don't get wrapped around the axel over a caliber choice. Pick something you can afford to shoot, and shoot alot, and call it good. For each of the above calibers, there...

Ideal .380 Ammo
Published (2009-11-08 17:38:00)
I would use what works best for you cycle wise but I would be half tempted to carry a flat nose FMJ if you could find some.......And there is 4000 (sorry off topic) But I carry a FMJ in my p32 and would do the same in LCP or such.

Critical Defense or Golden Saber
Published (2009-11-09 21:56:00)
The Critical Defense doesnt seem that much tamer than all those other Hornady loads. Is Hornady just the opposite of CorBon?...Good bullets, weak loads as opposed to HOT loads and ok bullets (Pow-R-Ball)? I like the CorBon DPX, 1250fps and 399ft/lb. I also like the consistent expansion. I TRUST the GDHP, I dont know why, I just do. Those two will remain my main carry loads I think. I guess the Golden Saber is almost the same thing though. I...

I was at the local Wally world today. After getting home and showering off the filth of that place, i decided to post that they had 55gr 223 rounds for almost 13 bucks a box (smoking crack) and a shit ton of Federal .40 in both FMJ and JHP. There was NO 9mm, .45 or .380 to be found. Kevin

Blazer. The cheap aluminum casing stuff. Don't ask me why. You're right, WWB is some filthy ammo.

Glock made the 40 back in the mid 90's by giving away the G22 with a trade in and a few bucks. Most trades were for 9mm. Many agencies are trading in those Glocks now. Some are wanting bids for 45 and some want to stay with the 40. I also bid 9mm because some want to go back to it. In over all sales of LE ammo I could run out of 40 caliber and it would not hurt my sales. 9mm and 45 are the big ...

It all seems a matter of timing around here. I snagged my limit of six boxes of the WWB 100 round .45acp a few days back. They probably had about 13 boxes. Some days it's like old mother hubbards cupboard and others I start to get antsy when there is no one to take my money. Like it's going to disappear all by itself or something.

E) Being FMJ it will not cause much tissue damage. On top of that it might not even hurt. I think the phrasing of your question is difficult to understand what you are asking. 1) Which bullet to get shot with, so I can sustain the least injury? or 2) The bullet I think is going to dispatch me the quickest?

Won't make a difference. In regards to the rounds you have, I would scrap both and go with a standard pressure, 230 gr, in the Winchester Ranger T, Speer Gold Dot or HST. The +p recoils harder yet yields very little gain in velocity. The standard pressure 230 is very soft shooting, yet still offers good penetration and expansion. Stick with that and focus on shot placement, and don't get in...

Hornady XTP for my LCP. It's a reliable brand, and they chamber, fire, and eject just fine. I would not describe XTP as "ideal," but it works for me. Welcome to the forum.

I probably don't have as much as you have, but I leave my factory ammo in the original boxes for storage. It's easy to reference manufacturer/specs. I don't like the rounds bumping around within a single container. Maybe if I was storing thousands of rounds and able to shoot several times a month, I'd have a different perspective as to convenience. Even when I was still working, our ...

Post a For Trade in the classifieds. I rarely take a salesman at their word. Most of the time the sales guy doesn't know and the other times they're just too eager to make the sale.

Shot plenty of both. Can't go wrong with either. Grab whatever is available. I will shoot anything decent--which includes Federal, CCI, Hornady, PMC, S&B, Fiocchi, Magtech, Rem, Win.

There's no question that seating the bullet deeper in the case can raise chamber pressures. There have been some studies that show the amount of pressure rise can be dramatic, but it's not the same for all cartridges. My personal practice if I see a small, but noticeable setback is to put the cartridge in the practice box. If it's significant, I'd discard the round (or pull the bullet and ...

If you go glock, go 9mm. I won't have one in 40, long story. I am sure that they would be fine in 45 just have never had one. If going 40 go 229 or 226 instead and never look back.
