The only way to enable recording is to either start subscribing again or paying the tenner a month recording fee as mentioned by Topper. Even if you pay the recording fee you wont have access to any recordings you have made of pay channels - they need the authorisations off a valid card to decrypt.

Yes you need to have a Sly billing to recieve the recording.

Sorry if it's been covered before but i can't find it, i have a sky + box although i don't pay any subscription as i had a freesat from sky installation, anyway, i now have a sky + box, a twin cable from the lnb etc, the question is this, do i need to pay for a sky plus subscription to be able to record or can i just record the free channels while i watch another channel also i have a quad lnb, do the sky cables need to go into...

The cables can gi into any port on the LNB, As for recording, I think you have to have it activated by sky for £10.00 per month. Unless that's changed now,

I have just stopped my Sky subscription (can't afford it any more!) but Sky have stopped me either recording or playing back on my Sky + box. Any way of restoring these services?

Welcome to the forum Iestyn I believe you have to pay £10.00 per month for that priviliege however I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong

Yes as per sky's T&C page in black and white Sky + functionality requires a Sky + subscription (free for Sky TV customers), or £10 p/month.

this only started recently not long after the new cards issued it worked fine before . I've tried full reset and planner upgrade and system update no luck the signal comes and goes every couple of seconds . So i can't record unless im watching that channel. Help

Got SKY+ in recently,can I take a feed from the new LNR to the old box to receive FTA channels,and if so why do SKY ask £30 for a card?

The morning after mine was installed, I noticed the fan was running constantly, and like you I switched off at the plug, only mine hasn't come on since.

Full functionality requires a separate Feed to each Tuner. You need to run a second cable from the Dish and probably to upgrade the LNB to a Quad.

That's what I felt too but does that mean faulty and needs replacement? Sound and picture are both OK using purely the co-ax connection.
