DM800 Cccam Port Issue
Published (2009-11-09 13:22:00)
Cable modems are typically exactly that - just modems; they have no routing or switching capability, they merely convert the cable signal to a USB or ethernet interface. They also have no port handling capability or firewall. Up to now I have seen only one cable modem that has a builtin router (Cisco which is Waaaaaayy expensive) like you get on ADSL modems. Therefore all routing and firewall operations has to be done on the router that plugs...

A call to your ISP's technical support might be in order. If forwarding works on ports 80, 21 etc. Then it looks like your ISP could be blocking certain ports. They may be able to give you a range of available ports. There are bound to be ports that they allow for the likes of running PC game servers and what not. You could always use one of those ports. PS: Sorry if I caused any confusion regarding forwarding of ports on your cable...

no your confusing the ports. look in your newcs.xml and you'll see in the httpd section <port>8080</port> this is the port your access the web interface on and you dont need to worry about opening it on your router If you intend to share externally you will need to open a port on your router (a different one) but dont worry about that yet just concentrate on getting the channels to clear locally first

Dm800 gateway is all good. I have no idea why this doesn't work. The only ones that open when I forward them in the router are the usual 80,21 etc.

Hi All, Going right back to the first thread I have downloaded PCSC lite and installed it (many times) but when i type ./install for the omnikey driver it tells me that PCSC is not installed. Does PCSC need to be somewhere else, I have just typed ./configure to install it. I've been trying for a few days now without success, any ideas? Regards

Dreambox Tuner Differences
Published (2009-11-09 16:22:00)
Hi peeps I'm thinking of getting a DM800 or a DM500HD when it comes out. There seems to be a different tuner in each model. The DM800 has a DVB-S Tuner where as the DM500HD is suppose to have a DVB-S2 tuner. Does that mean the tuner in the DM500HD is going to be more sensitive or won't it make no difference to a novice like me ? Wondering if someone could shed some light ? Many Thanks

a DVB-S2 tuner can receive both DVB-S and DVB-S2 broadcasts. a DVB-S tuner can only receive DVB-S broadcasts. And most HD and MPEG-4 channels use the newer DVB-S2 broadcasting standards, so I would most defenately go for the DVB-S2 tuner.

Welcome to the forum gillyscfc (Phil)
I would suggest that your dish is not quite on the arc correctly, there are a number of ways it can be off. However what happens when you put your motorised dish to 28.2 /5 and then connect a sky box?

If you have a genuine Dreambox, then you can always install the latest image available.
The issues occur only with clones.

If you visit rytec's website, you will find out that there are options to setup the BlackHole image to download the EPG for many different providers. The list is available on his website.

You can use IEPG 1 instead of Hip Hop. Just change it from a data channel to a tv channel with Dreamboxedit. Its FTA background music on the same transponder as Hip Hop. Carries the data stream.

Hi,
Today I noticed that my old blue Sky UK (0961)card has been switched off.
Last time I checked a few days ago, the card had its entitlements updated till early January 2010, so I was surprised to see it had been switched off.
I was using it in a DM600 under CCcam. I've had the new white card for a few months now, but had not put it into a receiver.
I was just wondering if anyone...

Hi,
Can you clarify the reason you will not put the card in the internal card reader? Is it due to voltage?
Do I need to go and order a smargo smart reader? ;-)
Thanks,
Stvy

Has anyone told you that you are in fact a legend!
Only had my 800 for a few hours, and am glad that I've held off until now to go and try to make my bouquets, as now I don't need to spend 12341234 hours doing it!

Almost nothing - a few channels may be open on 1W. There is a useful key updater called Hacksat but Premiere and D+ have been closed for ages now.
