That's a good question. I'd ask Maddog--he sells modified shifter assemblies. I think the units are the same, no matter hydro or cable. And yes, there's a difference between the hydro lines and shifter cables. If I had to install one or the other, I'd prefer to work with the cable every time--it's tons easier to route and less tempermental.

For some reason I think the dealer has the Illuminas for less, if they still sell them. You have to look them up under a 2005 Dodge Neon SRT with the ACR package.

Hi Mat. Thanks for the tip. I looked it up and downloaded the page. I will give an update after I get into it. I am fairly confident this will solve the problem. And if it does, I hope this long discussion of tips helps a lot of others in the future if anyone else has this crazy thing happen. Update to follow. Jerry

There are a whole bunch of things that might cause a stall like this one. I immediately thought, "wiring harness", but this seems to be an uncommon problem with the 2nd gen Neons. I have had sudden shutdowns occur due to: - Sudden coil failure. - Wiring harness issues. - CTS (Coolant Temp Sender) failure - Running out of fuel. As a general rule, Fuel Pump issues do not trigger a code for the CEL. When my CTS failed, I did not...

ive never seen one either. But I dont live in canada. Ive seen rust spots on neons but nothing terrible.

Can any 2G manual transmission setup use a shifter from any year 2G MTX carla? i.e. can the cable mtx from 00 and early 01 be interchanged with the later hydraulic setups, or even the SRT4 shifter? Also, same question, but pertaining to shifter cables... are they specific to hydraulic vs. cable, and how much does a new one typically cost?

hey all, I am boggled on this one. I have a 2001 R/T, the car has 160k on it and the engine has 70k on it. Just this winter I have experianced 3 stalls. Not my fault... This is what happens... I hop into the car (its winter here in Kingston, so its cold) and let it run for about 30 sec or so then start to drive off. Not more than say 500 feet from where I was, when slowing down to a stop sign ...

My heater core has sprung a leak and is fogging up the interior of my 2000 Neon. I tried some stop leak, but it does not seem to plug it up. How hard is it to change out the core?

So, winter is here, as many people have noticed. I had a look at my other car, a 94 cavalier... Rusted everywhere, now looks like crap, dur. I need to install a remanufactured head for my 2001 neon SOHC and have a couple questions. 1. tighten bolts to 25ftlbs. 2. tighten bolts to 50ftlbs. 3. tighten bolts to 50ftlbs. 4. turn additional quarter turn. I just bought a 2000 Neon. Before I had a 97 with ABS and they guy told me this newer one had it too but he was full of poo. What parts are required for a non ABS to ABS swap? I have a 97 ABS parts car, could the system work on my 2000? Would I need to swap the whole engine harness to convert to abs? Thanks

2000 Neon SOHC. No spark on cylinders 1-4, good spark on 2-3. Coil wiring checks good, put new dealer PCM, replaced coil. Car will only start with cam sensor unplugged, plug it in and it dies. No fault codes except cam sensor , which only appeared after I unplugged it. Before unplugging had no fault codes.
