If you are not as bothered about the night life in Watford you might be better staying at the Premier Inn at Croxley Watford, as you can get the train direct from Wembley Park beside the venue to Croxley (metropolitan line, make sure you get the train that goes to Watford as the line branches) and it is about 15 min walk from there to the hotel. £39 for the night you want if you click on picture of Henry. De Vere is £159 for NYE! v5076...I actually looked at the Walkers Great Days Out thing as I have around 20 points with them (having previously spent some). I need the FA Cup draw to hurry up because if Coventry are in London on the 2nd then I may well be taking up the 2 for 1 offer! Got an e-mail back from my friends hostel saying their minimum stay cannot be removed. Ah well. It was worth a try. I'm currently favouring a hostel (do you...

Hi Becles - I would highly recommend Center Parcs, we are actually taking my mum there next April for her 60th, going to Whinfell with all the family, 5 adults and 2 kids. My mum has been before and she loved it and loved spending time with the kids and watching them enjoy the swimming and activities. In December Centre Parcs do a winter wonderland and everything is very festive and you can take the kids to meet Santa, see link...

That Winter Wonderland sounds lovely. My Mam would really enjoy that I think. She's quite active and a young nearly 60 year old, so she'll be in the swimming pool etc., joining in rather than watching the children having fun I also had another thought that with the lodges, we can all pile in one lodge on a night and put the little ones to bed, then the rest of us can watch a film or play board games or just chat and stuff. Thanks for your post! I've already decided that I'll still pay full price if an offer doesn't come up soon. The view is pretty amazing from up there and it's not often I get my Dad up to London.

You do realise that Derbyshire is only a half hour further away than some of the above places? You could stop off on the way for a break, and it would give you a lot more options.
Would you stay in Lincolnshire? The places you have listed are not countryside areas!

Hi
I took my daughter to the O2 this sunday to see Disney Princess on ice. We had planned to park using free off street parking in London and tube to the O2, but forgot about it being poppy day and also got generally lost and were running so late that we had to drive straight to the O2, thinking that we would have to just pay the ridiculous prices, however one of the closest car parks (closer ...

There are a lot of tube works going on over the weekends at present, so I would plan your tube/bus journeys for the Sat and Sunday in advance as it may take longer than anticipated to get around.

There is a Travelodge, a Jurys Inn and a Novotel (from £35) all on Broad Street. And the City Inn in Brindley Place off Broad Street.
You've got more upmarket brands as well like the Marriot and the Hyatt at either end of Broad Street.
There is an Etap which is a longer walk but still walkable and that is £35 every night. It's basic but clean and still relatively new.

Hi, i took oh to malmaison in manchester for his birthday 2 years ago. It was pricey but we both agreed it was the best hotel we have ever stayed in!
We stay in hotels regularly and both being young (he was 23 i was 24 at the time) we were in jeans and tshirt, having driven from south wales. Everyone else there was in suits etc made us feel like people would be looking down their nose at us, ...

How old are the children?
Travelodge have family rooms for up to 4, as do premier inns. A lot of holiday inns & expresses let you sleep 2 children in a family room, although they normally have to share a double sofa bed (not so good if they are big!)

[QUOTE=Becles;26656319]My Mam is 60 on the 19th December 2010. It falls on a Sunday. My Dad wants to do something special with close family over that weekend. In attendance there will be him and my Mam, husband me and three children (who will be 13,11, and 3) and my brother, SIL and their three year old. So, 6 adults and 4 children altogether.

It's not in Bham itself, but not too far from Villa Park - the Belfry? Has good deals on spa breaks sometimes, not sure what's on offer at the moment. Restaurants etc part of the hotel. HTH.

Alternatively, Malmaison is in the City Centre and has a spa, also does good deals on dinner on a Sunday - spend £75 and stay overnight for a tenner.
