OK, I have figured out what is happening with Halifax. They do not charge for funds received below 100 GBP. Funds over 100 GBP but less then 8000 GBP, received in Euro's are free. All other currencies incur a 3 GBP charge. I was requesting a GBP amount to be sent to the UK from Holland. I only did this because it made it clearer to me how much would be received, didn't realise they were actually sending the funds in GBP rather than...

Sorry Chrysalis but I don't think the point you're making is valid in this instance. In the banking industry bonuses are a standard part of the pay package, even down to call centre workers. If the ability of the part-nationalised banks to offer bonuses is restricted too much they won't be competitive with other firms (non state-owned) when recruiting staff. You'd end up with all the best staff going elsewhere (why...

You have a right to your opionion but I don't think it is right to compare what has happened to rape, which is a vile crime committed by vile people who should be hung.
Ask a rape victim if being charged £35 for going over their overdraft was indeed in the same league as being violated by a vile pervert.
Justr trying to say that I don't think it should even be mentioned in the same ...

I am usure if my claim is still going through with the Abbey, I started my claim back in April 07 for £3,422. After several letters stating it could take upto 4 weeks and if they are still investigating they will update me in 4 weeks, I recieved a letter stating they were going to credit my account with £600 as a good will gesture and that if I was still not happy with that they would keep my ...

Hi all,
i'm a newbie and this is my first post. I've been reading alot about reclaiming charges on my credit cards. I have credit cards from the past that have been closed for quite some time now and i am sure i was occassionally charged for late payments etc and don't know whether it is worth enquiring with them. What do you think? Is it just as easy to call them and ask for the past 6 ...

I've been reading the forums today with some interest, having myself incurred charges in the past. I've found the ' I'm alright Jack' smugness of some who claim never to have ventured into the red a little distasteful. I'm just reitterating what many have said before me, in that some people less fortunate than myself and many others have very little choice in the matter when it comes to ...

What about those cases where the banks paid about 90% as the court date arrived and then the judge allowed a period of time for them to defend against payment of the balance?

Hiya
does your online statement show an 'available balance' ? Mine (Alliance and Leicester) goes something like this:-
Account Balance 150.00
Overdraft 100.00
Available Balance 230.00
Add the account balance and the overdraft together and that comes to £250 - take away the available balance and that gives you £20 (which I describe as pending) ...
