It's blowing up a gale out there tonight! Really windy! Since my last post, I've done general tidying and decluttering, chucking and flinging! And have emptied my piggy bank and counted up all the pennies, 2p's and 5p's. What would you do: sold an ikea picture on ebay last week - carefully packaged it in bubble wrap, cardboard and outer wrapping so that it would arrive safely. Buyer has just contacted me to say the glass...

It is NOT a weight loss club. There is no membership to this thread and everyone is very welcome.
Recipes are welcome. It would help if they were highlighted in some way - eg by putting the recipe name in ...

This is interesting, in that the lack of UK sites touches on something I have been thinking about a lot lately : setting up my own frugal living type blog. I am hesitiang due to 2 things though : firstly I am not at all internet savvy & have no idea how to set up my own web page, although I belive I can set up a page through another site who will manage it for me & I just update? And secondly, ...

Morning everyone,
There you go, I never even knew it was Thanksgiving Day. Gobble, gobble, gobble. I haven't done a great deal today. Definately room for improvement. SIL rang and chatted on phone for 2 hours. I did vacume & wash the floors though afterwards.
I've sorted out tea. Made a zucchini slice & potato salad for tea tonight. Mango & ice-cream for dessert. Beautiful fresh ...

Are these the super-charged mega-hot red chilies we are talking about, or the long green-ish ones that are sometimes served at kebab houses?
If the former, just share them out with family and friends if you are not using them all. If the latter, they are not terribly spicy and are very good eaten alongside chips, or in pitta with salad and hummus.

Thanks for starting the new thread Kittie.
The old thread made me think about a lot of things, not all of them necessarily old style, but interesting and challenging always!
Anyway, now I have a balanced store cupboard stockpile, my heating is still not on - though as anyone who has read my posts will say, that's because my boiler STILL needs relighting! The children have finally learnt...

1. You don't have to complete the daily list on the same day to get your star but try and do some in the week to give yourselves more free time at the weekend
2. You must do levels 1,2 and 3 to get a star but remember the 'extras' are extras and don't count towards the stars!
3. Please make it obvious when you have finished a list so that I know you need a star - for example Monday Done! ...

I use chopped up hotdogs in stirfrys or in omlettes if I've forgotten to
defrost any meat.
I'd make saag aloo with the spinach which is just boiled and chopped up or
mashed potatoes, spinach, some cumin, butter and seasoning to taste
Although I tend to chuck a lot of old tinned food I can't think of anything
to do with into omlettes unoriginally enough

I totally agree with you on this one - I would have taken the cheese, too, without the slightest bit of embarrassment.
My particular habit at work is turning off people's computer monitors on my way out of the office (I'm not sure if that's MSE or green, tbh ). One of my colleagues sheepishly admitted the other week that he had thought for months that his monitor was turning itself off -...

Just because you don't like someone doesn't mean that others don't! I don't care much for chips, roast or fried potatoes. I like jackets, boiled and mashed. I like boulangere potatoes but you would probably find them too labour intensive. I cook food from scratch, that's probably too time consuming for some people but it's what I prefer to do. A bit of effort produces some lovely meals
It ...
