Your neighbour is spot on. They have every right to expect their car to be restored to the standard it was before and not the cheapest option to ensure you pay as little as possible. If they have an independent witness you either pay up or involve your insurers. You have no other option.

If it has road tax then it can park on the road for as long as it likes provided it is parked in a legal parking place and not causing an obstruction or blocking drives etc.etc and it cannot be moved on.

Very popular as in 'lots about' or very popular as in 'in much demand'? VAT is based on the invoice price when you buy the car, not when it was ordered, so they'd be right to have to charge you the revised VAT rate. As for getting them to pay it, i'd be pushing hard for that, given the delay was hardly your fault.

This subject has been debated on many ex pat forums. Most companies permit overseas travel, but asaik none will cover a vehicle kept there and brought "home" once a year for MOT and tax. There is no legal way to keep a UK registered car overseas. Unfortunately, there are many Brits who are prepared to tell lies to get round the rules. Only a few insurers allow unrestricted 3rd party cover ...

Good advice and glad you're on the mend. I ALWAYS wear my helmet on the bike and it actually feels weird if I don't wear it. Thankfuly I've never actually needed the helmet but I'd never not wear one. It amazes me when I see people cycling on Aclass trunk roads competing with HGVs and 70mph traffic and they're wearing dark clothes and no helmet. Pure madness!

how many miles do you do, you usually have to do a lot to really need a diesel diesels always cost a lot more than petrol, so you ha ve to work out how long you would need to keep it to make your money back also when a diesel breaks it usually costs more than a petrol
