Most lenders would have a problem in letting someone who couldn't speak english enter into an english written loan agreement. Ambulance chasers would be all over them like a rash trying to get the loan written off due to the (not unreasonable) assumption that allowing someone to enter into a contract they do not understand would be the basis of an unfair relationship.

10.8% isn't that bad, although you've not really given enough info to say much more. A friend of mine got 8% from Sainsburys recently, but she is a) a home owner, b) mid-30's, c) responsible with credit, d) only has 1 credit card and a mobile phone contract and mortgage. i.e. prime territory for optimum rates.

your logic sounds reasonable assuming the PPI pays of interest and principle if its interest only you will gain nothing that your mother is not going to be working over the next 12 months

You may be able to get the £45 (less £5) back if you are persistent. Look at all the posts here from people who have been similarly conned.

£5,100 + £5,300 = £10,400 which is over 50% of your salary. A bank has to prove that a loan is affordable, and after rent, bills and essential living costs, meeting payments on this much debt could be seen as unaffordable. Use one of the complaint letters on this site for your charges. Regarding the interest rate on your new loan, complain that you have been missold if the interest rate is a lot higher than your existing debt and that you...

I heard 3 in 2 months or 6 in 12 is starting to become detrimental on a thread a while back. Make of that what you will.

Is this a charge for a loan offer you have in writing or for one of these scam merchants who promise to find a loan for you for a fee,if its the latter forget it,if its the former who the hell are they?

robbie,
First thing is not to let them get you down.
Write requesting a full breakdown of charges and their costs.
Lodge a claim against them for all the charges (pending the outcome of the high court case currently going through to prove whether they are lawful or not).
Go and talk to citizens advice if you need help with this.
Don't pay them the ?800 while it is disputed....

Did you have a go Andy?
I will be applying to Tesco in December unless the rates change a lot in the meantime.
The typical apr for under £15K, 7.8% looks v appealing.

I doubt that given your admitted recent repayment problems that you will succeed, you would be better doing everything you can to improve your credit rating, then re-assess your circumstances in 12 months time.If you can afford £250 a month wouldnt that go along way to sorting your problems anyway?

If the loan is cleared, there is no case.
If there are no arrears, no order can be made.
If the arrears are below two months it is unlikely that any order would be made
If the arrears are above two months, the judge would ask if you are able to recommence payment of the contractual monthly instalments together with something towards the arrears. If this is so, then he/she would ...

I think this is a sensible decision.
If you have borrowed money that you have no hope of repaying, we live in a civilised society when you don't have to and can declare yourself bankrupt.
If you have an unfair or illegal credit agreement then you have redress to the financial ombudman service.
If you have borrowed money, enjoyed the benefits of whatever you bought but somehow think...

Can anyone tell me if ICS Learn hold a credit license?
They offered me some courses and offered to allow me to pay by installments.
They took my direct debit details over the phone, but as far as I am aware, I never entered into a credit agreement or contract of sale with them. They never ran a credit check on me nor did they ever advise I would be entering into a credit agreement. The ...

No written agreement/contract. Not enforceable.
There is a thread about this. You will receive the same reply from others I guess.

alot of trust involved in this
if you pay him the money and he does not clear the debt the hp company will come after the car
The only way I would contemplate this if I could pay the HP company and him at the same time. TBH thou to much hassle, uncertainty and risk for me.

Loan Companies to avoid
I think this would be a good place for people to mention any loan companies that charge £40-£50 to process your application knowing full well they will not find a suitable lender for you.
I for example have been looking for a loan and stumbled across lots of these companies. Here are a few to avoid!
