Barclays, Opinions please :)

Since the bankruptcy is over, it should be alright to open a normal current account. I assume your credit history/score is decent. If so, there's chance of getting a normal current account. Not sure how strict Barclays criteria is for their standard current accounts though. You will need to try, and no harm in doing that. If they decline, you could try another bank. Each bank has different ways of assessing customers eligibility for a...

Bank current account advice, please

General consensus i get from these forums is that First Direct is the best for customer service and you have to pay in £1500 or more a month. As said above, while it is not an actual interest the Halifax reward account pays £5 a month which is better than most interest rates, you have to put £1000 a month into that one

I've just accessed normal functionality for banking, savings, credit cards and transferred a decent sum from a low paying account in to a higher paying account. No problems at all. I didn't check the sharedealing (as it's too depressing)!

Halifax Overdraft

Go onto internet banking, click 'Apply/Change Overdraft', and see what your guaranteed limit is. This'll give you an idea of what it'll change to in January. If you're happy with the amount they are guaranteeing you, it might be worth getting that on your account (you can do this online), as then it'll run for a year from today.

Someone on here said if your live solely on benefits then there not entitled to any of of your money. However if you have any other income they can. Best course of action is a new accoutn with someone else. I feel sorry for your children if you can't manage your/their money and they have to suffer, you think about them b4 running up debts.

Wouldn't they tell you? If your account is run correctly then there might be a possibility of fraud on your account, maybe a cloned card or something?

There is no minimum funding requirement on the Halifax URCA, so you can just fund the account and pay your fee. From 6th December you'll get a £5 Reward (rebate) if you fund that account with £1,000 - effectively cutting the cost to £7.50 a month. Make sure the mobile phone cover gives you the protection you need though. Most household insurance policies will insure a phone and calls to ...

Don't think you can get round it apart from asking that the person receiving the money pays the charge. There are usually 2 charges, 1 at each end! I've just sent some money to Australia and requested that each end pays the relevant charge.

I seem to have a problem too. It'll probably mysteriously turn in to the Lloyds Online service or something if they're trying to merge systems. (I just get a blank white screen, even when linking from the main www.halifax.co.uk web site; can't access it via the Bank of Scotland site either).

Just to add I have just checked Natwest Secure and it is showing 2 Visa Debit cards for my account, my Existing one and one with a completely different card number !, not sure why it would have a different card number if it was a replacement for the same card, would it not have a different card number if it was a totally different card (Such as a Servicecard ?).

surely the next route is to get the £7k back from the travel agent? if the bank can reverse the original credit card payment then he could reclaim the £7k from the travel agents in the same way. Is it a mainstream travel agent? If so they should reverse the payment.
