Hi Malcolm I have sourced the MAF unit now. One thing i did not ask is do i need to buy the MAF unit and a new sensor. In order to get the sensor out it requires a tool i dont have, as it is a funny screw head. Cheers Stuart

heater problem
Published (2009-11-09 00:37:00)
My centre vents blow hot, it depends on what sort of heating the car is fitted with, normal heater with no A/C, A/C, and climate control. My 202 230K with no A/C only blows fresh air from the centre vents, my C43 will blow air through the centre vents according to the temp set in the digital display.

Hi Stuart, the wedging of the door with with either a plastic wedge or an air wedge is perfectly acceptable method of entry, it doesnt bend the door permanently, Ive got into quite a few cars lately doing exactly that including 3 mercs and a bmw with no trace of it being done (one of my things is a locksmith but only mainly household not motors) I assume the breakdown people sprayed a lube into ...

there are two likely culprits here, the alarm siren can fail giving you constant false alarms - the noise you describe suggests this. also the pse unit in the boot which controls the alarm and locking functions can get water in, this is an all too common and expensive problem! to check the pse unit remove the jack next to the spare wheel and lift out the plystyrene tray that it sits in. you will ...

Hi,
What I have written below, is the assumption that your vechicle is petrol, though I believe the lack of detergent/additives issues equally apply to diesel fuel.
I have had similar experiences on my C230K, it was down to using cheap supermarket Unleaded fuel, as they have a lack of detergents/additives in them, also depending on age of the vehicle you may find the extended use of unleaded...

Before starting, I must say I've no experience of A-Class's...
But adding fluid is a very short term fix. Also, what would the Mass Air Flow Sensor have to do with the gearbox? I reckon the fault lies in or on the box, a sensor or something. Try a different indie, it took me 3 attempts to find mine.

Changing the radio would only affect it if a plug or wire is loose on the rear of the heater control box, but hardly likely to be that.
The carbon brushes could be worn out 251 in the link

Most common problem is a break in the circuit at the passenger seat. It could be the plug that has a poor connection under the seat but the most common problem is the seat pad

Go to MB and order a new barrel, this will be to fit your existing keys. This barrel can only be changed with the key turned to key1 so you will have to spray some PTFE or wd40 into the barrel to get it to turn,it may be difficult but it will.
I can send you the details of how to change the barrel.
I would avoid using the car till the new one comes
