Yeah i know wht you mean. Its kinda embarrasing turning off the car and hearing the rattle. Lots of people ask me what it is, i just tell them its vanos noise related to RPM. My bank1 vanos is very noisy too, i think i will be replcing most of it over winter too! This car always leaves me lots of projects to work on!!

Where did you source your screws? I'm having a look at mind and am thinking that they might be too beefy.

Gear oil change is cheap and may help. You may also want to check the linkage and shifter bushings to make sure all is good. If you...

There's always a chance the crankshaft sensor is just loose. That would be a lucky break.

This probably isn't the same problem, but I've always found my 3rd to 2nd downshift to be the hardest and slowest. Shifting up from 2nd to 3rd is no problem, but going from 3rd to 2nd just isn't smooth. I can't really do it in a straight line like the upshift. I find myself having to take it straight out of third, go over to the left, and then down into second. Here's a simple diagram that might...

Sounds like you are looking for a 'fender liner extension'. Fender liners are the bigger pieces that go around the fenders. And no, this is not a weird part. It's actually a really common part that gets damaged often.
#14 is what you are looking for in this diagram. Air duct BMW 5' E39, M5 (S62) ? BMW parts catalog

My suggestion is to clear the codes and see which ones come back. That's what I did with mine after replacing multiple parts during a preventive maintenance kick.

if its there you will feel it. now bear in mind it may be more subtle on some cars. it can mainly be felt through the seat, pedals, shifter.
edit, if you dont have it at all please post if the clutch/flywheel is stock.

Hmm that kinda sucks! I guess it's a total blow when you saw the numbers. Atleast now you can anticipate the extra 50-60whp your down will make anice difference in the butt dyno! It seems odd how there are some people with the ess putting down 500whp with the stock pulley and minimal mods but there are some with all the goodies strugling to make 476whp with stock pulley. I guess no differant ...

You already have a bunch of mods I would put it into preventative maintenance... Maybe get all the fluids changed, check to see if it needs new valve cover gaskets etc.
How many miles on the car, that might help determine where to spend the money too?

I noticed this too. The color of the dipstick makes it difficult to tell the condition of the oil. You can always use a piece of lint free cloth/paper towel but its kinda annoying. I swear 90% of cars i see all have thin steel dipsticks, simple to read easy to tell if the oils dirty. Sometimes its difficult to tell the oil level too. One side of my dipstick always reads higher than the ...
