Generally fans in the market today has an RPM tolerance about +/- 10 to 15 % tolerance and on top of that the Modern V itself has a tolerance about +/- 5%. Sorry for the late reply. Let me answer 1 by 1. 1) Had I used the Adaptec before? Yes. It was running fine on my Asus P5E WS Pro before the motherboard died. After which I used it on the MSI K9A2 Platinium and then currently on Asus Rampage. 2) Can I bring the combo down? I am afraid not as I had swapped my motherboard away. Can't afford to wait and to hear that there would be no fast fix. i.e. like the current Asus X58 with Adaptec...
