If I am invited for second round interviews, will this Big 4 firm invite me for an "in-house interview" which means I need to fly to HK and pay for my airfare? or they will just conduct more phone interviews? I feel that I perform so much better for face to face interviews.

dizzy Not sure to be honest. Normally I'd expect a firm like that to pay your travel expenses for interview, but don't know if they would for a junior position?

sorry i meant by proper IB = bulge bracket. citi is like tier 1 of non-bulge bracket. BNP or HSBC (in HK) is like tier 2 for IB in my view

Hello, I looked at jobsdb first, but didn't find anything from there in the field of engineering that didn't require speaking Chinese. So after that I just googled the field of industry I was interested in, and it gave me some company hits. Then I went through the company websites and their core business. If it sounded interesting to me, I sent them an open application and my cv directly to their email. However, I have to warn you...

Hello Engineer, I am a local Hong Kong citizen. I just found your case strange as it is not a usual practice here to employ international staff without any interview or company's transfer. Can I ask you for the website of the company so I can have a check of this company for you? I may not can help you to find out if it's a reliable company or not. I can only try my best to find out any information about this company in Chinese so...

what you are looking for is virtually impossible. (1) you need a work visa (2) in order to obtain a work visa, you need to find a job willing to sponsor you (tutoring is out of the question as for that you are pretty much self-employed) (3) the company sponsoring you must prove to the immigration dept that there is no one currently in hk that can fill the requirements of the job (4) ...

It's not necessary to know Chinese but it helps A LOT. My Chinese level is pretty basic, I can communicate in Cantonese but cannot really hold professional meetings with it. I just went through a recruitment agent and got a job (in a finance department). The role description said "Mandarin essential" but I still got the job... If Shatin is not too far I would have a look at the companies in the science park: Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks There is a place called ASTRI, just search "ASTRI" on hongkong.recruit.net. I would imagine you'd have to accept a pay cut moving from IBs to other type of development. At least I had to, in order to work for a small .NET consultancy company. I also did 7 months in...

Hi All, First time posting here. I was wondering whether there are any finance professionals on this board. I'm currently located in NYC and am looking to relocate to HK.
