I find taking Metamucil/or generic form the best. It is all natural and has been demonstrated to lower Cholesterol in many clinical studies.

i mentioned this before, but docusate sodium or any product containing it (brand) can be taken daily. it can be bought OTC. it is a stool softener and starts working within 24hrs... this is what i was given at PM. it works wonderfully. and as someone else mentioned, the more water taken in, the better it works.

Yes NBG, senna has to be in standardised form, containing exact amount of sennosides, but is still a stimulant laxative. It usually works overnight, and is routinely given in UK hospitals, usually after a suppository or enema. A sodium picosulphate product is available in the form of Dulco-Lax Pearles, and contains a small amount of the same stuff they often use for bowel evacuation. They work quick and are relatively safe if taken as advised....

Miralax! It was by prescription only a year ago, but now is otc, and is about $13 for a months supply. You take it everyday, and it will(most likely) return you to normal. It takes a couple of days to start working. Drinking lots of water with the miralax will make it work much better, and quicker. I was prescribed it for 2 years when I was in pm and on 600mg oxy + 100mcg fent patch, and THAT amount of narcotics really stops things from moving.

if results is what matters, look up "orange blossum special".... thats a mix of castor oil, magnesia and orange juice. they give that to you in the hospital when they want you "empty" for testing. believe me, you WILL be quite empty.... suppositorys work quick. most oral meds will take overnite or longer. the castor oil is the only one i know of that works fast thats taken orally.its nasty tasting stuff though...

Senokot-S works gently overnight and is all natural. It's expensive but worth it. I bought one bottle a year ago and still have more than half left. Drinking a lot of fruit juice is really helpful along with prunes. When I have any serious back up a lot of juice works wonders for me, again though it's an overnight solution. Some of those faster acting methods can give you cramps that hurt a lot. Senokot-S is natural made from veggies.
