Furkids and Christmas
Published (2009-12-26 16:36:00)
We had 10 adults and 6 kids (under the age of 9) here for Christmas Eve. I kept dogs in the kitchen behind a gate, since Linus is not good with kids, and also since I was busy with food preparation serving, etc. It went ok, but wasn't our best. whenever I left the room, Linus would carry on, moaning, barking, etc. I gave each of them a stuffed bone, which worked quite well for a while anyway. And a few times people he knew came in and...

Alberta sound like you had an eventful holiday. We had a great day. First Christmas morning we finally had 6 people, frodo, tika and Ms C here at my house for the gifts. which went really well. Frodo and Tika did well with all the strangers and Tika even let a few of the strangers touch and pet her even if she was quivering the entire time. Then we left the fur kids at my house and went to Courtney's for dinner and the other furkids...

I had friends over last night and after being with my 2 cleaning and getting ready all day; they were exhausted and slept for most of the visiting. Dooley's snoring caught everyone's attention. Susie

My girls seemed to be happy just spending their time in our bedroom. They stay there a lot during the day since we can't let the roam even when we are here. I'm sure Skye would have loved to seen the kids today. We had everyone over yesterday for lunch. That included all 7 kids under the age of 7. I think at that point they appreciated the time away from everyone.

My brother came home this Thanksgiving and we are going to my cousin's for dinner. We spent the day making pies and a pumpkin cheesecake that is very yummy. I haven't spent as much time with my furkids since I've been spending more time with my brother. He brought both his JRT's home and I don't want to take any chances bringing all of the dogs together. (He's staying at my dads). His older ...

Thank you! Sparky and Skye send their Thanksgiving wishes too! "...and may the table scraps of turkey, stuffing, and all the rest of the meal be plentiful whether by accidental fall or by your sheer generosity and kindness towards all deserving pets! Of course, Mommy and Daddy don't allow for table scraps but with those two little kids....I think we will have some good pickins this time!"

Hi Judy - I am sorry to her about your Mom. I was thinking about you the other day and wondering how things were. Of course I do remmeber Brandy and Kadin--but do not remember Lacey-Lou. We will love to see pictures of them. Your fostering work is great--11 dogs at the moment, wow! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your charges.

Maybe they sensed the saddened mood and decided this was not the time to claim territory? I know my dogs can be quite sensitive to my moods. That is good they respected your need to have your time and not make an issue about peopel in their territory. It's like they knew it wasn't going to last. I'm sure haivn ga bunch of big, tall people around a couple of small dogs wasn't going to help ...
