Show Desktop Icon Problem
Published (2008-11-25 12:02:58)
This is strange, but I often encounter the whole "last-used wallpaper" display during shutdown, because I too am not using desktop icons. I think this is just a consequence of disabling desktop icons, but I've never had issues right-clicking and changing my desktop wallpaper. I would recommend changing your wallpaper from a separate application, whether it's an image viewer/editor like IrfanView (which has this...

System tray volume problem

Hi There is sound on WMP, so no problem there with any volume. I tried all of the codec installations, still it dit not help at all. I even went and update WMP to 11, in the hope it will find the fault, but still even that did not help. I reckon a simple problem like this may ask for a re- install of xp to solve this. I just remember, that ever since updating IE 6 to IE 7, the volume icon disappeared from task bar, now that tells me something...

Refurbished units?..
Published (2008-11-25 00:00:00)
I would just like to know.. Refurbished units that .. possibly say have an Intel Quad Core processor, 3GB ram, 300+GB hard drive and costs around 500+.. Would it be better than buying a DELL system unit that has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor about 2.0ghz, 3GB ram, 320GB hard drive, costing around the same price (+tax)? Budget is $700-800, and I don't surely know what to decide. I know for a fact that refurbished units have a more higher...

I am having Linux Fedora installed on my system. I want to remove it and install Windows Xp. But when i boot the system from the XP CD, it does all the configuration loading etc. and comes to the partition information page. There it shows "Unknown Partition type" and "No Disk Found". If i press any key after that, it takes me to an error page saying the system has reached a fatal error. I want to format the...

I usually use the 'attrib' for removing viruses by changing their attributes, but now after that BOOT.INI issue I can't use it anymore. And one more thing I can't run the gpedit.msc program for some tweaks ^^, what am I thinking right now is to reinstall my OS, but most of the sites and forums that I had searched about that BOOT.INI thing, they said insert the XP cd and repair my bootcfg I'm just confused If what...

attrib is a command, it will not run from the run window because it is not a pgm. May we have a glance at your boot.ini file, please? Go Start, Run, paste in .. control sysdm.cpl,,3 -and press Enter. Go Startup n Recovery Settings, press Edit button. Paste here the notepad that pops.

Hi everyone I have a tough problem, and it seems that I can not resolve this one at all. The speaker icon that is situated near the clock on the task bar, disappeared from there. It is only gone from the task bar, and I can do what ever I want to get it back there, no luck. On top of that, since it is gone from there, it seems that the volume is muted somewhere, as I cannot hear ...
