My aunt sent me two nice professional looking Morgan coin books. Between the two of them they date from 1878-1894. There is no 3rd book as one would think. I want to sell them for her so I should approach this logically, as we all would probably want to. I went to the local coin store and wanted to ask their opinion. They told me they could grade all 54 coins that I had, but would require ...

I should know this but... Is there a difference between the d cam designation and ultra cam designation? Are the terms used interchangably or is one a higher grade than the other? Hunting for a certified silver eagle (would like to find 1993, 94 or 95) but the terminology has me stumped. Thanks for the help. RI AL

What is your opinion on raw coins on ebay? What percent do you think have been cleaned, AT, whizzed, retooled or messed with? I have bought some nice coins on ebay that have been original but very few! Dean

I have been told PCGS and NGC are the best grading services to use and everyone respects their findings. Is this correct. Is a 2008 platinum four coin proof set graded by PCGS or NGC PR69 of more value than an ANACS grade PR70? Is the PCGS pricing guide a good guide? Does an ANACS graded coin value hold up to the PCGS pricing guide? I have also be told and read articles that PCGS ...

I don't send many coins for certification. I'm not good enough at grading to be a crack out artist. Anyway the photo of my wife's coin will follow. First I will explain why we spent money on certification in case anyone is interested - if not just skip the words and check out the photo :). Please feel free to reply with comments or photos of other GSA Morgans minted in Carson City just because ...

In 1923 the motion picture industry was having a variety of scandals come to the forefront. Among them was the association of comedian "Fatty" Arbuckle with the death of Virginia Rappe in an orgy in a San Francisco hotel (in 1921). Through some very convoluted politics to improve the image of Hollywood a Film Festival called the "First Annual American Historical Revue and Motion Picture ...

Some of us on the boards have fortunately been active in this hobby for longer than the current extended bull market and we remember the days of a serious downturn in the hobby-industry and the significant lull that followed. During the height of the slumber through the mid-1990s one would be able to walk the aisles of the bourse with little competition. In those days there were some very nice ...

Dwaine, good looking assortment of 1870 coins, and a sweet '92-O! DD, that's a cool Walker, I'm intrigued by the toning, I associate a look like that more with Ikes. I wonder if someone kept that coin in a plastic container that was made out ot the same plastic as was used by the Mint for Ikes. Ron, sweet 81 (S?). Nice naked lady!

Well , an 1884-s NGC graded MS66 Morgan is listed @ over $406,000. Saying that a USCG 1884-s Morgan dollar is worth considerably less , would be a gross understatement!! JMHO

Can anyone explain why "first strikes" on a slab makes the coin any more special than a non-first strike? My $50 buffalo is a 2006 MS 70 "first strike" in an NGC slab. I bought it beacuse the price was in budget...not because it was a "first strike". Anyway...how many "first strikes" can there be in a series? Are first strikes more desireable and if so, why? RI AL

I have fairly inexpensive bronze cent I want to remove green death from. What is my best option? 1. Soak in olive oil for ___ weeks and remove with toothpick. 2. Soak in mineral oil for ___ weeks and remove with toothpick. 3. Dab on MS70, remove with toothpick. 4. Something else (please explain). It appears anything I do will mess with the coin in one way or another, but I don't want to let ...

So I'm in Houston for a couple of days, for a nice vacation courtesy of my friend Gustav. I'll probably be heading back to see what sort of devastation awaits me in Lafayette on Thursday. I want to give the power company every chance to get the power back on, and I want to make sure the gas stations have some juice too. Well, so I'm cruising around town and I visit "The Gold Exchange" on the ...
