Thanks for the great report and awesome pics. I can see you are hard core. Maybe next time the pike and eyes will be more cooperative.

Ok, time for some pictures and a report. For a full sense of how the day went, read the entire report. Oh, and the river is ridiculously flooded. On to the report! 7:30 a.m.- Hit Wal-Mart for some cheap gloves and hopefully discounted rapalas. No dice on the discount...but I did walk away with two #10 new x-raps, one perch, one gold/black back (my favorite jerkbait color of all time). Don't worry, this will mean something later. Oh and my...

THere was almost complete ice down by Willow Springs Road in the past 2 weeks. Has all of the river ice melted in our area? Anyone know? I didn't fish, but my dog loved seeing the mallards and the geese. Maybe he'll fish me a state record fish some day. I think I'll call him lucky dog.

faster current natural flow of the river not like by willow springs that stretch of the river is made by man pitched and all that to make room for the canal thats why its straight and slower current

I know alot of you have hung it up for the year, but I'm going out tomorrow rain or shine and hitting the river HARD. I've been golden all year fishing in high water, racking up nice catches of pike and walleye and even though its cold out, I've still been catching fish. I haven't gotten anything of size yet, but hopefully that will change soon. What I need from you guys is some advice on some...

Woke up before 6 am in one of my rare moments and hit the river with my pops. Water rose about 6 feet since yesterday and the fish were in a neutral mood. First fish was a nice little crappie that came on a jig/twister.
Of course I had to outfish my dad, so I followed up with a snake just shy of 20 inches on a homemade jig/twister....

That section of the DP holds a few pike but for whatever reason fishing is much better a few miles further north or south. I think the riverbed is pretty well silted in in this stretch and that seems to produce more of a pike, catfish, carp, etc..fishery. As to safety, it's probably best to avoid any secluded areas within the city forest preserves, especially if fishing alone. I've been in ...

What is the biggest N. Pike anyone has seen in person or photo from the DPR? I keep hearing stories of 38-40" but nobody can show me a photo.

Hello all,
I got a little RANT, I went out today to try and find this place with the nice Santa Fe caboose out in the front. I spent about 2 hours out and looking for this location.
Now I mentioned I just moved here from TEXAS!!!!!! I pulled in in 4wd crawling, went down to the end of the fence and turned back ( under the bridge), there appeared to be a pull-off towards the river with a ...

Thanks for the report. I am not ready to call it quits yet. Been fishing the DPR for two years and have not caught a sauger nor even a bass, but then I fish only the stretch from Devon and further north. Haven't even seen any taken. I wonder if sauger swim in the northern sections?
