This thread is about the Pioneer DVR-111D / DVR-710 . Click here to see full specs I have updated the driver for this drive and everything was fine. Now it wont write to disks. I have tried various disk brands. it will play ok. HELP please. Is pioneer a good brand name?

This might be a vista bug, IIRC. Try using an IDE ODD. Or try using IDE mode instead of AHCI mode in the bios.

I've got an Acer Aspire E360 and can't figure out to get the DVD/RW drive out, I disconnect all the cables and pull the drive back as far as I can, about half an inch, but then it won't move any further. Is there anyone who can help me getting this drive out to replace it?

Thanks for the suggestion, chef. It looks like my drive already has DMA mode enabled. I noticed there was an update for my firmware, so I just installed that. That seems to have cleared up some of the problems I was experiencing. The computer isn't grinding to a halt while burning anymore, and it is no longer taking 45 minutes per disc to burn. Alright so i would like to know the minimum required CPU speed for decoding media. MP3 can be decoded for very little CPU if i remember correctly.
