I was doing research on a quality DVD/VHS combo unit to transfer several old tapes to DVD and this unit was recommended a few times. Considering the transfer of VHS tapes is the main priority for me is this the best combo unit to purchase? Thanks.

Well, he bought both the Vieta and the Trent today, at my suggestion, so he could try them both out and see which he liked best. In the end, he decided to keep both, because he realized that he should be able to keep at least two of the machines running almost indefinitely now that the has 4 discontinued products working. Can't remember the model number, but the so-called Vieta says GO....

Basically I wouldn't recommend taking a UK DVB spec recorder to the US. As you've correctly concluded, it won't work in the way you want. I am messing around with my HTPC. Which remote controllers work with Beyond TV besides Firefly? I am testing different HD Tuners so a third party app is perfect to use with them. My normal HD Tuner has a tuner specific app and remote.
