BenQ DVD Writer is vanishing from market and no longer is available for purchased. Newegg.com does not have so other places I guess we have to live without it.

I currently have a white DW1650 unit that won't match a new black case I'm getting soon. Given the scarcity of this drive nowadays, is there any chance that I can still find replacement bezels? Does anyone have one of those extra black bezels that came with the retail packages? Thanks.

Ever since I joined this forum about a year ago, I noticed that most of the Blank Media crew have BenQ DW 16?? series drives, used for scanning. It gives them the ability to get things like Jitter and PO Failure reporting in their Quality Scans, seems to open up a new tab "Advanced Disc Quality" for more tests in Nero CD DVD/Disc speed. It makes me slightly jealous. Now, in my sig, ...

This thread is about the BenQ DW1640 . Click here to see full specs My BQ1640 just stopped being able to recognize CD's and reports no disc when one is inserted. However, it can read/write DVD's without any problems. Firmware is BSLB. Does anyone have any idea what may be going on? Thanks!

First thing i did was a scan at 8x using B7V9 firmware. the read speed was crazy. did a little reading here on the forum and found that i needed to patch with MCSE. so i got TDB B7W9RPC1 and patched with MCSE Increase Read Speed. burned on Pioneer 115D 1.18 MCSE Patch @ 6x the first pic is of the B7V9 without increase read speed.

Hi, I was looking for pioneer 111, but I can find it for 30+10€, now it seams that benq 1650 is even better, but can't find it, I saw a Philips 1660 for only 26+10€, I know it's almost the same than benq, is it still better than pioneer? will I need to crossflash? which firmaware do you suggest (I have read that someone feel better with 1655 than 1650 fw even on this philips)? I don't care ...
