Actually you don't need to change it, the thickness change is only around 1/8" and the spline/clutch takes care of any problems there. The only combination problems are if you put a smoothcase tranny up to a 1098 engine the pressure plate fouls the tranny bellhousing and needs to be cleared (this is only because the 1098 pressure plate is HUGE). Thanks guys for the feedback, appreciate all the input. Open for me will be several months and living in PA our humidity can be an issue. Since this will be a new hydraulic system w/ lines, M/C, wheel cylinders & slave I might go w/ the DOT5 fluid. Need to do some more research on what the advantage/disadvantages will be. ps I'm not concerned about crawfish getting in there, but more concerned about some small Amish guy crawling...

Yes, I waiting to see how it goes and hope they get the problem resolved. Quote: I'm not going into why an LBC parts supplier should make provisions to provide it's customers with parts that will fit... I believe the reason for this is economics. The volume of parts like these they can sell is pretty low. If they made them to fit each particular car it would require a lot more specific models to deal with and more part numbers for...

Don't you need to change the back plate on the engine? Or maybe I'm incorrect but I thought there was a difference in backplates between a Rib Case and a Smoothcase. Someone who's done this please educate us.

Have you tried Craigslist? I have bought and sold parts on that before. If the part is easily shipable, I think you might get higher prices on Ebay due to larger audience.

At rest with the car off - does it shifts fine into all the other gears w/out excessive effort? At rest, but running, how does it shift into all the other gears? Others may have a better idea of how to check if you specifically lost 2nd gear or it's synchro.

I would do a YouTube search for University Motors and there you will find a video by John Twist showing you exactly how tune your dual SU Carbs. Re-jetting these is really replacing the jets where the needle moves in and out. Simple job to replace. Contact Joe Curto in NY for parts. The biggie to check is the clearance for the throat plate shaft where it turns in the carb body. You may have a ...

Glad you got your lines in. Did you wind up with the steel or stainless lines? I can't answer your leak question, but I'm curious as to the answer myself. I've got the same job ahead of me as well.

Jim If your points are burning out in record time then CHANGE THE CONDENSER!! You may have changed it a few months ago but I will almost guarantee that it was a defective one. Do it again and the points should last a very long time. BillM

Silly question, maybe, but always start small. 1) Is your rotor installed? 2) Is your dizz seated properly? 3) Have you confirmed that it is turning with the engine? 4) How have you confirmed that spark is getting to the cap but not to the plug wires? 5) How have you confirmed TDC?
