Doc, no issues here. I like all the talk. Makes you think. When you read about the brakes, I wasn't sure they were there either. PO did a nice job labeling everything parts wise. Phil- like your idea about the brake calipers, will check into that before I order the kits. I was going to do that tonight. Marv

The $2k remark was sarcasm. Pleased to learn it lit off, that's really half the battle. The calipers were off the car but "with" it? I kinda took the first description as: the calipers were nowhere to be found. That woulda been a huge 'bargaining chip' IMO. When ya do get it roadworthy I'll be interested to know how well second gear engages, too... Once looked at an old 3.8 at a hog lot 'dealer'...

If you need front brake calipers, go to a Datsun (excuse me - Nissan) dealer and get 4 new calipers for a Datsun 2000 ('60's vintage). They used the same 2 1/8" calipers that all the ser.1 E used. They still make them and the price is low. You can even put them on the rear as a group of all 4 instead of the original 1 7/8" Jag had. Have put all 8 on Jags for years with no ill effects on cars used for hard driving,...

that is premium restoration work if I ever saw it. but I am confused, who did what? (the restoration and then the calibration). Also, I've been dreaming about turning my gauges into White faces with black lettering and Red lighting. Is such a dream possible? Ex

Do you want $ or elbow grease? See Basil for how long and how much it's going to cost. Hard to give a price without seeing up close. What looks superficial usually isn't. Rockers are a main support for vehicle and floorboards in conjuntion with rockers and not easily replaced without a jig or some sort of support, even if it's a coupe. I saw them go in pretty much this condition when prices ...

Pete, Best I know, 1968 was the last year of the oval mouth and running lights above the bumpers. In 69 the mouth was opened up, parking lights enlarged and put underneath the bumpers. There has always been discussion about the 68 car whether it is Series 1.5 or series 2. You can swap bonnets on the SI and SII cars, they mount the same. Dont'e think you can put the(72on) SIII bonnets on earlier...

Hi, It won't fall off, but there are a few areas that wear and each adds it's own "looseness" to build up to a sloppy rack. 1. Check the rubber mounts to see if they're torn. Have someone turn the steering wheel and watch the mounts for movement. Or pry them a little with a screwdriver. 2. At the far end of the steering tube, not the pinion end, grab the small rod that connects the rack to the...
