Aftermarket wheel arch flares

Thanks Glen. I did a hunt on the net and found others have also used what you suggested so I'll have a look see at that. Clark Rubber was also suggested for reasonable cost and a good product. Sorry to the mods as I've put this in the wrong section

Installing EGT and Boost Gauges...
Published (2010-01-04 19:19:00)
Stu thanks. For me it comes down to maximising fuel economy and prevention of engine and turbo damage (aka engine longevity). The reason for having the probe ahead of the turbo exhaust inlet is to get a realistic picture of how hard the engine is working - especially when I am trying to maintain speed when towing uphill or in headwind situations (which are classic over-fueling scenarios), to be able to recognise other over-fueling situations,...

Great looking setup there Glen. May I ask why you didnt put the EGT probe in the downpipe after the turbo? There's a page i've read on the DP Chip website that talks about ideal Diesel Exhaust Gas Temps. Take a look in your spare time.

Clicking noise on acceleration
Published (2010-01-04 18:19:00)
Took it for a spin and the clicking seems to be constant no matter the speed. As pointed out earlier, it is only as i accelerate, and when cruising it is not there.I popped the bonnet and got my wife to bring up the revs but no clicking noise to be heard and the serpentine belt and pulleys all seemed to be running true,

Well guys I'm back from my trip to Sydney for xmas but along the way I convinced the wife that I need to play on the dunes at Stockton Beach, so hello 2 night stop over, my mate drove his MG up from Sydney and met us there. The end result was FUN but there was a few hairy moments in between. Started by airing down to 20psi (245/70R16 Bridgestone D694's) and hitting the sand all good till I got out into the first real opening just...

Leaking Radiator / end caps

I have found in the past that with a specialized part tghe dealership will sub-contract the repair out to that "specialist". In this case a Radiator supplier & installer. If you can go direct to the specialist you could save some $$ without losing warranties. Just a thought.

The things people neglect is looking at future maintaince costs.
Spending 1700 now may save you thousands in the not so distant future
That just my opinion as someone who does it for a living.

Well you can buy these flare extension things at ARB and TJM but they cost. If its just for the camper trailer, why not go to Bunnings garden section and buy some of the thin recycled plastic garden edging (comes in various sizesand colours but black is probably the go) and you can pop rivet it or screw it to the trailer guards.

This is going to be a fairly long one. My gauges (Electronic EGT and Boost) arrived from Prosport in the US just after Chirstmas and I have just finished the install. This post will also be relevant for JK CRD owners as the VM engine is much the same. Cconceptually it also provides some guide to Grand Cherokee and Commander CRD owners considering EGT and Boost gauges.

IF its not coming from underneath the front, it might be a belt pulley, water pump or alternator pulley about to go. Does it click in relation to rpm, can you make it go faster or slower?

mine went at about 180000ks took the Transfer case with it. Paid $3800 for
second hand pair that had 45000ks on it. Done 30000ks since with no
problem. The guy at the automatic shop that did mine said it looks as if it
either had the wrong oil in it or the service intervals are too far apart
for our climate here, they do not hold a lot of oil apparently and they run
pretty hot.

TJM did do one - I've got it on mine, as has Pipeliner and CRDSTU, but I don't know if its still available. They made it in both steel and aluminium. I think it was the model 15 - probably worth checking to see if they still make it or have any left in store.
Rocklizard in the US is also making one - I believe that Fouros on this forum is an Aus dealer for their products (including their ...

Yeah Tinarse,
What I did is added real big arse washers to stop it from popping out. They also have pretty good flex on them so they are ok. I'm sure I'm gonna lose them soon but until then there doing a great job. The only thing is they make a heck of a noise when I'm up and down those tracks

Could be a faulty sensor or loose wire somewhere. When I killed mine I'd gone on a particularly rough corrugated road and soon after it started to hold onto 2nd gear. Then a few days later it would shift really hard and not engage 4th or 5th. The dealers looked at it and when they plugged it in said the temp sensor was acting up. probably a loosened connection and that was causing the shift ...
