Best if you get some nylon or fibre washers at the same time sealant tends to get eaten

The 1st thing to do is Get some old oil. Once you have a supply you then start thinking about filtering it. Good hunting on getting a supply bob PS [Edited on 12-12-2009 by bobblake]

I am not precisely sure what it is you want. Here in the USA we have 55 gallon (200L) steel barrels. They generally come with a 2 National Pipe Thread fitting on the top, where a standard 2 (5cm) nipple can be threaded. Or, do you want to drill into the barrel and screw in a fitting? If this is the case, then that kind of fitting is called a Bulkhead Tank Fitting. They are not real common, but they can be found at your better plumbing...

which tank are you going to heat ? (to dewater the oil)
if I were you, I'd not bother with the 75micron filter bag, I'd just sheet filter instead ?

i have been using crude soya oil for the last few months with no problems at all.
i have been getting it from a local pig farmer.
they use soya oil to fattern pigs on.
the farmer gets it from a animal feed place . but i not sure what price as soon as i find out i will post it up.
so buying bulk may be the way to go.

welcome. I am afraid your jetta is a bit too modern for an easy fix for veg use. It could be a PD system, which is about when they started with them,
or it could be just the TDI. The PD definitely needs twin tanking, and the TDI is advised for it, tho earlier versions of the 1896cc tdi were ok on
single tank. you would need to have a basic twin tank kit with a heat exchanger. You could do ...

Standard ones for the engine should be fine.... But make sure you buy Bosch Duraterm glow plugs (rather than NGK, Champion, Beru etc) or you'll have
starting problems again before long.
Get them from this place, they're the cheapest around even with the postage on top!

What's your budget? Most Mercedes diesels are automatic, and older ones you could insure on a classic policy.
Citroen offered some diesel automatics in the '90s, ZXs and Xantias.
