1998 RENAULT CLIO RL OK FOR VEG ?
Published (2009-11-29 18:57:00)
Check the pump ..... make sure it is a bosch. Mine had a lucas....like most do; it failed !! I changed it to a bosch. I fitted a FPH. For ease of starting I twin tanked it because they do hunt when cold on 100% vegi. I did 35k miles in mine on SVO in about 2 years with no issues once it had the bosch pump !!!.

I think its better to leave the breather in place. I was going to put a little oil collector filter on mine as I was not impressed with the black oil in the manifold, but when I learned that this lubricate the valves, I leave it. I have the disabling EGR MOD from Evan AKA Kartek from peach on the car for a wee while now, its working very well. No limp mode or code. Its a great found, the engine is breathing clean air This is great that you...

I should have said in my earlier post.... I think the problem with running it all the time is.... it cools the cylinder temps down a lot... and we're normally all trying to get them all as high as possible to make sure all the veg oil is burnt properly.... oil sticking to cool cylinder walls is what causes stuck rings to start with ? I've got tonnes of backpressure/blowby... so am going to give a try just to see what happens... will...

So does this mean that not only will this work for di engines but it will also make veg oil usable in CHP's and generators if it was setup right ?

weather getting cold

Started within 2 seconds this morning with no throttle used so pleased with that, had the normal 5 minutes of under power in till temp gauge had moved to near normal, looks like I will get through this cold snap with no petrol needed in my Veg oil yet It is only Jan-Feb that goes cold enough normally to warrant the use of petrol for me down on the south coast.

adding onto this post, is there any way to identify what kind of injectors someone has without taking them out of the car first?
I'd like to buy a set of reconditioned (or new if cheap) ones but before I take the originals out of the car, as the car is needed to drive 100 miles
each day and it can't bve off the road.

Perhaps the title is a little premature.. but as far as I could tell this morning, coming to work ..........MY BLOWBY ( stuck rings) HAS GONE
I need to test it on the way home on my test hill, but I caned it for the last 1 mile or so .... 0 psi in the crankcase.
I fitted a make shift water injection system last night ( to which I added just 1 litre of water). It was ...

I pressume that's a mk1? Should have the 1.9D engine, just check it has a Bosch pump, I think most of that vintage do. I think folk run these on veg,
so might be ok? I'm not sure if it's an direct injection or not, perhaps someone can comment? You might have to twin tank if it is...
Give it a good look over, they are prone to rust, and generally speaking the mk1 is not known for being ...

This is an excellent idea. I suppose the only part that isnt warm will be the pump. But it'll get warm pretty quick though.
Ive looked on ebay loads of time for one of these heaters. Ive read loads of stories of people buying them and not getting them to work, is there
anything special to look for?
Can you do a full installation guide, it would be great!
Also if the unit ...

Im new to this concept. A mist of water is injected into the air intake? Yes.
Does water get into the sump?
Does it clean the injectors and if so, how well?

My brother had a few 95's & 96's and as you say, it's not the biggest of engine bays. I'd be tempted to go down the LPG route on this one as the extra
weight of the diesel engine could cause handling problems and it would certainly be a shame to hack the engine bay about to make a diesel fit.
Cheers Jim

I doubt there would be a reaction between KOH and NaOH, as they are both strong base chemicals...
What would be the point in mixing the two and then using that as your catalyst...?
Sounds like too much effort for nothing gained, Plus you'll have differences in the base-value and titration quantities for the BioDiesel
reaction--Easily sorted, but again cant see much point in it......
