Yeah, ordered CD/DVD to my dock. The SD trickery sounds too complicated. Thanks anyway.

Just noticed that the screen brightness remains unchanged when AC power is connected/disconnected. Are yours the same...? BTW, is there any simple way to customize the colour scheme under Aero Basic...? Cheers.

Everything I read seems to say they're WAY better now and give a noticeable performance boost. As stated, you can actually use a CF card with a CF / IDE connector (those are cheap). Read this thread ( viewtopic.php?f=3&t=71881 ) for more info on performance specs. It...

Ah, was hoping it wouldn't be that :p Are all of us in the similar situation for streaming flash video? IIRC netbooks with similar specs are able to run flash quite adequately. I browsed around the interweb and found this: http://www.gmabooster.com/download_win.htm Looks interesting, anyone tried this or similar apps before?

you will loose autonomy wit X41, as it consume a lot more (2W) than X40 (because of the chipset)

Thanks, working pretty well now. I'm using the bottom one only slightly shaved off some of that corner. I put it back together not expecting it to work yet, but it does now about 99%. I wasn't here yet when the bridge thing happened but the vids look pretty awesome. Galloping Gertie we call it, didn't know it was here until my physics teacher talked about it. Wow! Post one at a time please (I'm probably the only dinosaur looking for HDDs in the SSD era) In the meantime, I've found this site: http://www.harddrivebenchmark.net There are plenty of HDD benchmarks there, very interesting page... According to their results I've sorted out my list by the rating scored by each model: Rating / Model 218 - Toshiba 80GB MK8025GAL 212 - Samsung ...

It is not possible to install Samsung's SSD onto X41. X41 didn't use PATA interface.

Don't know, but I have a motherboard (not an X31) with a non-functional parallel port. It worked for a long while then one day it didn't work, and has never worked since. Everything else about the system still works fine, just no parallel printer port. Could be your problem is something similar. Edit: Just realized the motherboard I'm talking about is a desktop, where the port is on the ...

I haven't seen the newer Atheros chipsets after AR5008 being offered in miniPCI. Non- whitelist cards don't work in X41/X41t in any case. I had AR5008 and Ralink cards worked in T42 and A31. Haven't tried X40 but they should work. Lastly, select a card for two antennae instead of three. This eliminates the need to install the 3rd antenna.

Other than the ability to go to 2GB DDR2 RAM, there are not huge differences between X40 and X41. I actually have both a very low power ULV Banias (2371-4ZM) and a Dothan (2371-LCU) X40. I would go for the SSD.

One end of the " U" shaped pin goes around the groove one way clockwise. The right side (extended) is no problem. The two points on the left side (hold pen position) has to be off set so the pin can go clockwise. The bottom one in your photo actually looks better than the top sample. My catch assembly has a bit of grease in the groove so the pin can go around smoothly. This grease looks ...
