miketoro, if you mean the picture on the adapter, I think it means only that you have to remove the rubber side parts if you take the drive from the thinkpad's main drive slot.

That drive is known to vibrate even in the regular SATA Hard Drive bay, so it's the drive not the SATA adapter.

So far no issues with my new t400s...I'm loving it (knock on wood). I got rid of Windows already (which I had left for a couple of days for testing purposes),installed ubuntu and its running like a charm.

t400 Fax modem?
Published (2009-12-01 00:04:00)
Is the ThinkPad Modem Adapter driver installed properly? Mine doesn't detect it either, but making it auto detect disabled my USB mouse (had to unplug/replug). Perhaps it doesn't work unless it's actually hooked up to a modem cable?

The screen was much much better on the Vostro 1510 my friend has. I'll try to find a local store which I can at least try to see the T400 before pulling the trigger on it.

Yes, it's a bit cheaper, but not like it used to be. I've heard the high nit WXGA is the best screen on the T400 PQ wise. Plus you can use it outside. I would think not on the coupons, but it never hurts to try.

Apparently the T400s is 1.8". Is there any way to jam in a 2.5" drive? What does a ultrabayIII do?

I can't remember the last time I faxed anything (and I have an AiO sitting right next to me). I scan/convert it to a pdf and attach it to an email. What kind of business are you in that you still do that much faxing?

According to ThinkWiki , they use the same screens, though I believe the parts numbers are different. There's two screen - a LG and a Samsung. The LG is generally regarded as better than the Samsung. Perhaps you got the Samsung before. The R500 varies more from the T500 than the R400 does from the T400. It uses a bit more plastic in the case, and is thicker and more heavy. It lacks the ...

Wondering the same thing. I ordered with the multitouch yesterday, but am now having second thoughts. At the time I hadn't read (and didn't expect) there would any negative impact to the general screen. Would be great to hear from somebody who has seen or used the MultiTouch display.

Since that adapter was designed for ThinkPad R400, R500, T400s, T400, T500, W500, and W700, it makes sense that it would support the same drives that those machines do (SATA and SATA II). I don't think you will find written specs out on the Net because Lenovo themselves do not give it out. If you can find a benchmarek/review that would be an indicator as far as read/write transfer rates. http...

The W700 has a better WUXGA screen than what's offered on the T or W series. Plus you can get a quad core on the W700. I think you can do four monitors with the Advanced Dock and the T500 or W500. I don't know if it's doable on the W700 with the dock. The W700 dock does have three video hook ups - dvi, vga and display port.
