Getting to the Great Wall

robertm wrote: I will be visiting Beijing soon too and plan to bus out to the Great Wall and all around Beijing and other cities as well. How would I go about getting a traffic IC card? I'm guessing I would just buy them as an available option at one of the electronic ticket windows right? I know things are done that way in Japan...but I'm a noob to China. Is the traffic IC card a deal worth investing in?...

I'm just trying to figure out what it all means with the new 电动摩托车和电动轻便摩托车通用技术条件, or 电摩国标. Basically as of 2010-1-1 the definition of electric scooter/bike/moped/motorcycle is going to change from non-motorized vehicle to motorized (非机动车 to 机动车). There is the question of what the two sub-catagories of electric motorcycle and electric moped constitute, and then if it makes a difference ...

Hi, I've bought a new Honda Civic here and am wondering about breaking in the engine - is it still necessary? If so, what's the rmp limit for how long / how many km? Av read conflicting comments on this, as some say that modern engines are already broken in (or in French: pre-broke). The middle argument goes that even if it's been pre-broke, u still need to take it easy for the first...

I'm thinking of investing in a motorbike (petrol not electric) but not sure what the deal is, so a few questions hopefully someone can help answer a/ is it legal for a foreigner to buy/own/register one? b/ what sort of license is needed (i only have UK car license at the moment)? c/ are there restrictions on where/when you can ride in beijing? d/ i've been told if the motorbike is ...

I heard some rumors that a foreigner, legally employed (aka have a valid alien work permit) are allowed to import one vehicle duty free. Not sure if this is true, and where to find out so figured I'd drop a line here. If this is possible, some more questions regarding this: 1) Will one be allowed to sell the vehicle (or at least give it away for free, just transfer ownership)? 2) Do...

Foreigners will love these. Basically it's the Honda Joker (Japan) or Honda Shadow (Europe), and they are modified to become electric. These are electric scooters and they are awesome. The base 500W48V20A version runs around 45km/h for up to 60km in summer/40km in winter. Up the battery to Li-ion 40A and you get 125km range. You can incrementally add the Wattage up to 3000W, at which ...
