A quick review of today's cards to buy (1GB configurations for all versions will be compared against each other):
Radeon HD 4770: 750 MHz, 640 shaders / 32 TMU's, 51.2 GB/s
Radeon HD 4850: 625 Mhz, 800 shaders / 40 TMU's (roughly equal GPU fillrate to 4770), 64 GB/s (result: 8% faster than 4770 overall)

two 5850s are equal to a 5970 but in all reality keep the X2 atleast till
fermi hits then you should be able to scoop some cards up cheap because the
people that always have to have the best cards will sell their 5870s/5850s.

Wiz's review of the HIS 5770 seemed to indicate even the stock heatsink provided decent temps, so i can't imagine this would be worse. Hopefully the fan noise is what's improved.
