I wonder if the changes to intermediate will make it "easier"- at least pschologically. I mean it's really hard to think "this move was passing standard, and now it's not- what do I do differently" Learning all new moves is definetly a challenge, and they aren't easy moves by any stretch- but it's a totally different test. And I think that's easier to deal with then trying to figure...

On Tempo: Learned the Dutch Waltz, today in my ice dancing lesson. Really liked it and got it under my belt pretty fast. Just need to tweak my edges a little more. Camel spin into a back catch!!!!! Easily done today! First attempt, too! Showed my coach and she was really thrilled! May end up using that for my program come January. Scratch spin was super fast today. Got really dizzy after since I don't do that all that often in fast...

Ice-dancer here, although we have done some pairs skills and the occasional "interpretive pairs" programme. We did seriously look at doing a pairs programme last year, but our coach, who had seemed all for it, bottled out when it came to actually putting something together. Don't blame him - the thought of trying to do side-by-side jumps with my beloved husband, who doesn't know the meaning of...

YAY KIM_TO_THE_MAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go!!!!!! On-Tempo: hit the rink today, after a nearly 2-week hiatus (thank you flu). Not too bad, I had used my inhaler before I left my house. I little wobbly but not shabby. Out-of-Time: we did moves & jumps; when will I POINT MY FREAKIN' TOES AND ACTUALLY TAKE OFF on the stupid loop jump???? Sheesh! And my timing stinks, I take forever. I need to do this jump off ice again, when...

^ Na, I'm doing on my own. But my coach is supportive (unlike some instructors I've had who have tried to convince me not to learn both ways). And one of my classmates is a CW jumper/spinner so I'm not alone in that either if I eventually decide to quit trying the ambidextrous thing. And yep, I'm doing spins both ways too. Well, of course, "spins" since I suck at them. Spins are easier for me to go both...

Skating Goals for 2010
Published (2009-11-12 11:20:00)
Well, though my progress has slowed to a crawl, I should probably try for some goals, yes? 2010: Pass Paso and Starlight Waltz Pass Bronze FS Get a long ways toward having first gold dance test-ready The Paso isn't far off from giving it a try & I'm hoping to put it out in January, so that might actually be realistic. Then I think it will just depend on how hard I work on the Starlight. I'm skipping AN this year to make...

Disagreement is fine......but the other board degenerated to personal attacks. (Almost right from the beginning.) Not good . This thread was productive. Got some good ideas from posters. Was contacted by a few people who are in the same situation who agree with me. (Also a person in the same situation who disagrees with me, but did so very politely.....which is fine. ) Posters here have been pretty polite. Need to see other thread to...

If you pass Gold, you don't really have to start over. It's not like you have juvenile, in regards to competitions. But your next step IS intermediate, so once you do that, then you're on the standard track, as if you started from the beginning. Look at the moves that make up the adult track and the standard track. What do you think about the back circle 8s- a good skill to learn, but they...

I hope to get back to skating regularly, so my 2010 Resolutions are: 1) Start taking lessons again. (Moves, Ice Dance, and Freestyle - that order) 2) Pass the Preliminary MITF, Canasta Tango and Rhythm Blues tests (can run over to 2011) 3) Root for everyone at Adult Easterns again, but off-camera this time. How to get there: . Exercise every day, including stretching, sweating and ...

Hmmm. The best boot for you depends on quite a few factors, like; how heavy you are, how wide your feet are, how old you are (and therefore likely to outgrow before you outskate), and of course, how far you hope to go in the sport. I think a lof of people ask their coach for some recommendations to begin with.

I think you just need to buy a pair of footless tights. I've been able to pull those down over the heel of the boot. I haven't heard of any tights quite like you describe, just footless tights that can cover either the top of the boot or pull all the way down. AFAIK, most of the major skating tight brands make footless tights. Hope this helped!

On a good day I'm pretty good at jumping and spinning (for an old geezer). I don't practice MITF so I assume I would be terrible at it. I've never been interested in competing. Mainly for two reasons: 1) I'm wildly inconsistent, and 2) I'd never be able to warm up in the time time alloted. It takes me a minimum of 20 minutes to get my legs.
